It’s officially fall, which means it’s time to get your home ready for the colder weather.

Before winter sets in, check a few key areas around your home:
• Clear gutters and drainage paths
• Check exterior seals around windows and doors
• Inspect roofing and flashing
• Service furnace and HRV filters
• Prepare exterior water lines for freezing temperatures

None of these are major tasks, but leaving a small issue unaddressed through a wet winter can turn it into a much larger repair. A well-built home doesn’t eliminate maintenance, but it can mean fewer surprises and more predictable upkeep over time.

One of our favourite stages of any project is when it stops feeling like a job site and starts feeling like home again.

Last week, we wrapped up this full-home renovation in Abbotsford, completed our final walkthrough, and brought in Cotala Cross Media to capture the finished spaces.

Having lived in the home since 2001, the family wanted to update it for the way they live today. Nearly every space was renovated, from the main living areas and downstairs suite to a new deck for family gatherings.
We’ll be sharing more soon.

Join us for a tour of our largest modular project to date.

At more than 4,000 square feet, the building is comprised of five modular sections, including two full show suites, all built in our local facility, before being transported and assembled on site.

This a unique example of how modular construction can be used. When the client no longer needs the presentation centre at this site, it can be disassembled and re-purposed on another site.

Take a firsthand look at our open house on Thursday, October 22nd 11AM-2PM. Address: 18311 72 Ave. Surrey

This family has lived in their Abbotsford home since 2001, and with their kids now in university, they had a decision to make: move or update the home they already love. They chose to stay and renovate for the next stage of their family’s life.

The entire house was renovated, including the downstairs suite and a new deck for family gatherings. The original wood-panelled ceiling and entry wall were restored and incorporated into the updated design, while the kitchen was extended to provide more functional storage. The result is an updated home that works better for the family’s needs while preserving its original character.

Some companies just build modular homes, and leave you with the permitting, site prep, servicing, and installation.

At Stattonrock, we offer a full design-build approach that manages the entire project while allowing you more options for customization.

When comparing proposals, ask a lot of questions and find out what’s included, what can be customized, and who is responsible for each stage of the process.

Back in July, we shared this original wood ceiling and wall feature and how we would need to carefully take it apart for restoration. Changes to the home’s layout had left gaps in the original wood that also needed to be filled. While replacing the feature would have been easier, preserving it maintains the home’s history and character.

Josh and the team at completed the restoration by removing and refinishing the boards and adding new material where needed. They carefully matched the grain and colour so the new wood blends naturally with the original.

We’ll be sharing photos of the full renovation soon.

One of the responsibilities of a full-service builder is understanding how local regulations impact the way a project gets built.

This garden suite is headed to Delta, where local requirements meant we couldn’t simply deliver a completed modular home to site.

Instead, the home was prefabricated in sections and will be craned onto the foundation. The decks and deck covers were prefabricated as well and will be installed the same way.

What looks straightforward on delivery day is often the result of careful planning, coordination, and understanding the requirements unique to each municipality.

Prefabrication isn’t just for homes.

For this poultry barn renovation, we were faced with a unique challenge: wall sections reaching 23 feet tall.

Rather than building everything on site, we worked closely with our engineer to develop a prefabrication strategy that allowed us to construct the wall assemblies in our facility before transporting them to site.

By building these walls indoors, we were able to improve quality control, create a safer working environment for our team, and significantly reduce the amount of work required on site.

The wall assemblies are now complete and ready for delivery, where they’ll be installed as part of the next phase of the poultry barn renovation.
