At Botânica Office, the green brise-soleils were conceived to integrate architecture and landscape into a single system. As climbing plants grow along steel structures, they filter solar radiation, reduce heat gain on the façades, and improve indoor thermal comfort.
They also enhance privacy, improve the microclimate, and transform the façade over time through their natural cycles of growth and flowering.
To make this possible, architecture and landscape architecture worked together from the earliest stages of the project. Prototypes were developed, plant species adapted to Manaus' tropical climate were selected, and an integrated system of substrate, irrigation, drainage, and maintenance was designed to ensure the long-term performance of the green facade.
At Botânica Office, landscape architecture is not an addition to the building—it is part of its infrastructure, reinforcing the idea that nature can play an active role in creating buildings that are more comfortable, efficient, and better adapted to tropical cities.
