Durability is not proven by promises but by everyday performance. Roofing works the same way. That is why we suggest comparing how traditional roof tiles (ceramic or concrete) and stone-coated metal roofing actually perform in practice.

Ceramic roof tiles:
✅ Natural material with centuries of history
✅ Resistant to UV exposure and fire
❌ Heavy weight — requires a reinforced roof structure
❌ Vulnerable to mechanical loads (hail, point pressure)
❌ Long service life of several decades, but highly dependent on operating conditions and maintenance

Stone-coated metal roofing (Metrotile):
✅ Multi-layered metal base with protective coating
✅ Resistant to UV exposure, moisture, and fire
✅ Lightweight — 7 times lighter than traditional roof tiles, reducing structural load and simplifying installation
✅ High resistance to impacts and weather loads (hail, wind)
✅ Manufacturer warranty — from 40 years. Proven worldwide performance for more than 65 years

True friendship, just like a quality roof, is proven through real performance over time. Metrotile is the roof you can trust for the long term: https://www.metrotile.eu/

In roofing, colour is not just an aesthetic choice; it’s a performance decision.

But in the context of roofing solutions, this assumption is not so straightforward. In contemporary architecture, dark roof colours are increasingly viewed as a functional element of climate control and building energy efficiency during colder periods of the year.

Black and dark finishes, including the Metrotile Bond Charcoal profile, absorb solar radiation more effectively, contributing to additional heat retention within the roofing system. This helps reduce heat loss and improve the overall level of thermal comfort inside the building, even at low temperatures.

🏛️ Every era has its own style, but true classical form never grows old.

Victorians were fascinated with details that could be admired for hours. Modernists preferred clean lines and function above all else. Contemporary architecture strives for simplicity but with character.

And then there are forms that remain relevant forever. The roof of the house shown in the photo, which was finished with the Metrotile Qube profile, demonstrates this perfectly in practice. Strict rectangular shapes create rhythm, and the deep black colour adds visual weight, while the proportions and clean lines make the roof feel complete and refined.

Even if architectural trends change decades from now, your roof will still look modern. As true form is not subject to time, and this timelessness is supported by a 40-year warranty.

Metrotile Qube for those who choose clean, strong geometry that remains relevant across eras.

Do you have biases?

Probably. Everyone does. Even those who create flawless buildings. One bias is so familiar that it is treated as a rule: the roof should end where the façade begins.

The Shingle roofing profile of Metrotile makes it possible to innovate without any technical compromises. The concealed fixing system allows the tiles to be used both on the roof and on the façade without unnecessary joints, creating one continuous surface.

With such a solution, not only does the building’s appearance change, but its perception also changes. It becomes more unified and significantly more expressive in its silhouette.

Metrotile Shingle helps you think holistically and design without limitations:

More than 60% of European residential buildings built before the 1970s had to have traditional pitched roofs with a slope of at least 45° because of thatched roofs or traditional tiles. The shape of the house was dictated by the material.

Today, the Metrotile lightweight steel roofing system turns these rules on their head. Most of our tile profiles can be installed at any pitch from 10° to 90°, opening the door to any design: minimalist slopes, vertical façades, classic pitches — one system covers them all.

With Metrotile, the only limitation is your imagination: https://www.metrotile.eu/

An old wooden house can easily be spoilt, even with the best of intentions. One poorly considered update is enough to destroy its authentic character, replacing it with a clean but characterless newness.

That’s why, when it was time to update the roof of this forest home, the main goal was to preserve the existing beautiful architecture. This is why the owners chose Metrotile Shake — a profile that maintains the aesthetic of traditional wooden shingles so the new roof looks as if it has always been part of the house.

Visually, it preserves the same natural, slightly uneven texture that fits so organically on homes in the forest. At the same time, it provides modern functionality: the lightweight steel base does not add extra load to the walls or foundation, does not crack or deform, and repels the issues that natural timber often develops over time.

A true renovation is not when a house becomes something else. It’s when it remains itself but stronger, ready to face the next decades.

According to Eurobarometer, for 77% of Europeans, environmental responsibility is no longer an abstract value; it’s a real criterion guiding everyday choices. And when it comes to construction, this means much more than just energy efficiency or a modern appearance. It’s also about the materials used and the legacy they leave behind.

That’s why we use steel for the base of Metrotile roofs. Steel is valued not only for its strength and durability but also for its ability to remain a resource for years to come. Steel has no “expiry date” and can be recycled repeatedly without losing quality, as confirmed by the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform. This makes it the most recyclable construction material in the world.

Greece, Italy, Turkey — sounds like a perfect summer holiday itinerary. But for roofers, it’s a list of regions with high seismic activity, where a building’s structure must perform without a single weak point.

In such projects, it’s not just the material that matters but how it is fixed. Each Metrotile roof panel is secured at eight durable points, creating a single interlocked surface fastened not only to the rafters but also to the other panels. This creates a unified, interconnected roof plane that distributes loads evenly, reduces local stress at junctions, and improves resistance to vibrations and shear deformations.

And the lightweight metal roofing reduces inertial loads on the supporting structure during seismic events, so even weakened walls are more likely to safely hold the lightweight Metrotile roof.

🌡️ Even though we’re only at the beginning of spring, researchers predict that summer 2026 could be one of the hottest in the past four years. Yes, again!

Given this trend, it’s worth thinking about how to make your home comfortable in advance.

We usually take care of ourselves — drinking water and wearing light clothing. But there’s one often overlooked element, even though it directly affects a home’s comfort level: the roof. It plays a key role in keeping your interior cool and pleasant, even on the hottest days.

Metrotile is a “cool roof”, designed to naturally cool your home, as metal cools down faster after hot summer days. Plus, the steel panels are installed above the roof deck, creating a ventilation gap that ensures continuous airflow beneath the roof covering. This principle, known as above sheathing ventilation (ASV), effectively removes the excess heat that accumulates under the roof without additional fans or air conditioning.

☀️ While summer is still planning to break records, set your own record for comfort by preparing your home early this spring.

🏗️ Strength isn’t measured by weight, and at Metrotile, we prove it by using steel as the base for our tiles.

Thanks to steel’s stellar strength, the profiles can be made thinner (without losing durability), making the roof 7 times lighter than traditional concrete or clay tiles. This lightness brings even more benefits — less load on the building structure, lower costs for the framework and foundation, and faster, safer installation.

💡 Plus, lighter tiles reduce the risk of roof deformation, allow more flexible fastening systems, and ensure long-term durability even under extreme weather — from gales to snow.

The thin steel core also doesn’t compromise strength. A Metrotile roof withstands the test of time, maintaining its aesthetic appeal for decades regardless of what the weather throws at it.

🏡 Traditional tiles are tied to the past. We’re building a lightweight future, both literally and figuratively: https://www.metrotile.eu
