Situated within a consolidated yet evolving urban context, close to Dampoort Station and part of a broader masterplan set to gradually transform the area, the project takes a clear position. It aligns with the Koopvaardijlaan boulevard, reinforcing the existing urban continuity within a dense, infrastructural setting.

As the design progresses, the spatial organisation becomes more defined. A central core structures the building, allowing the perimeter to remain open and adaptable for learning environments, while circulation areas are designed not just for movement, but for meeting, studying, and informal use.

Through model-making and ongoing testing, early visualisations begin to show how the building relates to its context balancing solidity with openness, and structure with flexibility.

A design developed through collaboration, continuous refinement, and a focus on both its urban setting and everyday use.

Exploring the façade as both an urban response and an architectural identity. Set within a dense and evolving context, the project aligns with the Koopvaardijlaan boulevard to reinforce the existing streetscape, while carefully testing how the building can express openness, rhythm, and depth. This sketch captures early investigations into proportion, materiality, and the balance between continuity and interruption.

Rather than relying on one defining gesture, the façade develops through a series of iterations, working to balance the larger scale of the surroundings with the more human scale of the school. Each option studies how light, structure, and envelope can contribute to a robust yet adaptable architectural language. An ongoing process of testing, refining, and rethinking.

At University Complex Plateau-Rozier, we are testing finishes in situ before full application. The cork plaster provides both thermal insulation and acoustic absorption within the existing thickness of the historic render. It enhances comfort without compromising the building’s character, helping to prepare this monument for the future.

A collaborative brief in which the supports on-site experimentation giving space to explore, test, and refine. The images show various test surfaces under evaluation.

Out on site. This week, part of the team visited one of our ongoing projects near Station Gent Sint- Pieters, taking the time to walk through the site together and share insights across different stages of the design and construction process.

These visits are a simple but important way for newer colleagues to get to know both the projects and the way we work. The development, coordinated by with developers and , brings together more than 300 homes, local amenities, and new public spaces, including a neighbourhood park. On site, this translates into an ensemble of six buildings: from lower volumes to two residential towers, carefully positioned to shape streets, squares, and green in-between spaces.

Beyond the plans and drawings, being there helps to understand scale, material choices, and the relationship between the buildings and the urban space.

Not the winning entry, yet a story we still want to tell.

Our proposal imagined a school as more than a place to train: a refuge for highly driven young people who spend long days far from home. The project was organised into three distinct worlds: the Studios for practice and rehearsal, the House for rest and care, and the Stage for performance. Each part had its own rhythm, materiality and atmosphere.

Robust concrete structures support the large double-height dancehalls, while the House was conceived as a warm, demountable timber framework, offering calm, softness and a sense of belonging.

From gardens and terraces to carefully oriented rehearsal spaces, the design sought moments of pause alongside intensity.

Folded steel façades unfold in rhythmic variations, composing an architectural interpretation of Swan Lake.

Great news! Our project Ten Dries is completed.

Set within a campus where care and education come together, the building extends an existing environment dedicated to learning, therapy and daily support for children with motor and multiple disabilities. Designed for children with intellectual disabilities, the project places dignity, clarity and calm at its core.

For us, this project was especially meaningful. The architecture does not seek attention, but care — spaces that are clear, inclusive and welcoming, and that quietly support daily routines, interaction and a sense of belonging. Each decision was made with social value, durability and respect for the existing context in mind.

Testing the cladding of the new research tower on the northern edge of the technology campus, next to the existing Daikin Gerenemo-Project — the photo shows the different colour variations of the façade.

The building is designed as a place where leading research and education in photonics and artificial intelligence meet, the building also embraces a strong public and community role within Campus Ardoyen.

The architecture continues the language of its neighbour, defined by horizontal façade bands that bring clarity, rhythm and generous daylight to the workspaces. As the tower ascends, the façade subtly evolves, culminating in an expressive crown that shapes a distinctive skyline presence.

At street level, a double-height transparent plinth opens the building to its surroundings, creating an inviting threshold between research, campus life and the public realm. A dedicated cyclist route leads seamlessly to a sunken entrance and bicycle parking below, reinforcing accessibility and everyday use.

An emerging landmark for Campus Ardoyen, the tower stands for innovation, collaboration and architectural calm — a place where science, entrepreneurship and community come together.

It was a great honour to be selected from such an inspiring group of laureates for the BAEXA for the Flemish region Award.

We see this award as both a recognition of our work and a further motivation to continue pursuing our social and architectural ambitions with passion, within our organisation as well as across our projects.

The accompanying photo line-up highlights a selection of projects we have realised in recent years.

Our sincere thanks go to the organisers and the jury for this honour and for recognizing our work 🤍

We’re pleased to share that planning permission for our project Campus Dokzuid has been granted by the Flemish Government. This project is in collaboration with , .eu, Aardlab, Leon Reniers and .

The project forms part of the wider urban renewal of the “Oude Dokken”, based on the masterplan of .eu from 2004.

The area is also set to welcome other forward-looking initiatives, including a new media campus, which will accommodate around 2,500 students and introduce new activity to the district. Together, these developments offer an opportunity to strengthen the neighbourhood over time, with attention for both its current residents and its future users.
