What does a construction site look like 18 metres below Copenhagen? 🇩🇰

Last Sunday, visitors to the Nordhavn Tunnel found out.
They descended into the excavation pit for a close-up view of the 1.4-kilometre tunnel taking shape beneath the harbour, reaching depths of up to 18 metres.

Above ground, twelve Danish street artists had transformed the site fencing into an outdoor gallery. Visitors could even pick up a spray can and add some colour of their own.

A rare chance to step inside a major infrastructure project and meet the people building it.

Thanks to the Danish Road Directorate, the BESIX - MT Højgaard joint venture, the artists and everyone who came along.

🏦 They used to print your banknotes here! Soon, people will work, live, shop and connect in the same place.

Yesterday, the foundation stone was officially laid for The Fifty Six, marking the start of the transformation of the former National Bank printing works in the heart of Brussels 🇧🇪.

Developed by 3D Real Estate and Burco, the project will breathe new life into this iconic site, combining offices, housing, retail and services while preserving its architectural heritage.

Preserving the site's heritage while giving it a new purpose is exactly the kind of challenge BESIX enjoys taking on!

✅ Delivering a major industrial facility is one thing... Delivering it two months ahead of schedule, on budget and with zero lost time injuries is something else!

Congratulations to our colleagues at BESIX Watpac on the successful completion of this new flour mill in Ballarat, Victoria 🇦🇺.

This seven-level facility will help strengthen regional Australia's food manufacturing capacity, supporting local jobs and supply chain resilience for years to come.

The project brought together complex construction works, advanced food-grade requirements and the coordination of nearly 1,500 pieces of specialist process equipment, all while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you to MAURI and George Weston Foods for their trust.

More than a ring road: a long-term investment in mobility around Brussels 🇧🇪.

We're proud to be part of the R0Q consortium, designated by De Werkvennootschap as preferred bidder for the DBFM project R0 North, Zaventem Zone.

Together with Jan De Nul, Stadsbader, Willemen and I4B, we'll help transform a key section of the Brussels Ring between Machelen and Kraainem.

The project will deliver safer, smoother mobility while improving connections for cyclists and pedestrians, strengthening water management and creating more space for nature.

👀 Some people see a giant piece of steel. We see critical infrastructure given a new lease on life.

The renovation of the Krammer Locks complex in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 is in full swing. This week, one of the lock gates was successfully removed and transported for refurbishment.

It was quite a move, since the lock gate measures at least 11 metres wide, 10.5 metres high, and 1.1 metres thick. It weighs about as much as an adult humpback whale! 🐋

A complex operation, but just one step in a much bigger challenge: modernising one of the Netherlands’ most important hydraulic engineering assets while keeping it operational.

A stadium feels real when the grass goes in. 🌱🏟️

That moment has arrived at Aramco Stadium in Al Khobar 🇸🇦, where the pitch turf has now been laid and the project is entering its final phase.

Seating installation is well advanced, the playing surface is taking shape, and the surrounding public spaces are steadily coming to life.

For BESIX, it's exciting to see this future 47,000-seat venue getting closer to welcoming its first visitors and becoming part of Saudi Arabia's growing sports landscape.

When Sébastien arrived ✈️ in Dubai in 2008, he was not thinking about the long-term path of his career. He was an engineering student, interning at BESIX and learning how a construction site operates.

That site was the Burj Khalifa high-rise.

🌍 According to Sébastien, careers are rarely shaped by a perfect plan. After successful assignments in 🇶🇦, 🇦🇪 and 🇲🇦, he is now back in Dubai, where he works in Business Development.

💡 Eighteen years later, one lesson remains clear: careers are built through projects and shaped by people.

👀 The best infrastructure is often the kind people never notice.

Take the Nordhavn tunnel in Copenhagen 🇩🇰. Once completed, it will not shape the skyline, because most of it will be hidden beneath the water 🌊. But every day, thousands of people will enjoy smoother travel through the city thanks to it.

Last week, we had the pleasure of sharing this story with H.E. Patrick Deboeck, the Belgian Ambassador to Denmark, during a visit to the project site. ✨
