MODULO architects Sustainability is considered at a fundamental level, not as

MODULO architects was founded in 2000 and has since
steadily grown into the experienced team it is today, boasting
the exceptional skills and creativity of some twenty engineers
and architects. Our fully trilingual team is a major asset that is greatly valued
both in the international context of Brussels and by our
multinational clients. MODULO architects positions itself as one of Belgium’s most
reliable architectural firms, providing a competitive offer of
quality and professional services. We stand for contemporary architecture that is straightforward,
staying careful however to avoid too simplistic answers which
would deny the multiple realities of varying sensibilities and
interests. Aspects of sustainability are carefully
considered and solidly integrated into each step of the
architectural design process.

30 years of VIB: space for what’s next! 🧬

From fundamental research to innovations in healthcare and agriculture, VIB has spent three decades turning scientific curiosity into impact. Today, we celebrate VIB’s 30th anniversary - and a story we have helped shape since its earliest days.

In 1997, one of MODULO’s co-founders served as executive architect for VIB’s first building at Ghent’s Technologiepark. MODULO architects subsequently designed an additional floor and a twin building with a central entrance pavilion.

This shared history also includes our involvement in the VIB Center for Molecular Neurology in Antwerp and the Leuven Bio-Incubator.

The latest chapter in this collaboration is VIB’s new headquarters and Bio-Incubator at Tech Lane Ghent, completed in 2024. The building was designed by MODULO architects together with BEEL architecten and ISTEMA, in collaboration with Establis. Flexible labs, adaptable offices and shared meeting spaces give biotech companies room to develop their ideas and grow.

We’re proud to have supported VIB’s growing ambitions for nearly three decades.

UCLouvain – Université catholique de Louvain has inaugurated a highly secure facility where researchers can study viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 and bacteria responsible for anthrax and tuberculosis.

Combining BSL-3 containment with state-of-the-art atomic force microscopy, the laboratory will help scientists better understand pathogens and develop new treatments.

A major milestone in the transformation of the Mendel Tower by MODULO architects and Sweco Belgium. Proud of this achievement and our strong collaboration.

Integrated Psychiatry Institute - IPI, Brussels, 2024.

Nearing final acceptance, this new psychiatric care environment for / brings together clinical units, ambulatory care, therapy spaces, education and research.

Three wings open towards the Woluwe valley, with daylight, views, green roofs and soft internal curves shaping a calm and non-institutional atmosphere.

🌿 Official opening of ’s new high-tech and fossil-free Core Facilities Greenhouse Complex in Heverlee.

Designed by MODULO architects, the project combines advanced greenhouse facilities, laboratories, teaching spaces and technical infrastructure within one integrated architectural environment for research and education.

Developed for the and several KU Leuven research departments, the complex supports innovative research into sustainable crop production, plant health, climate resilience and food security.

Proud to have contributed to this future-oriented research infrastructure together with KU Leuven and all project partners.
