🍍 Our Queen Pineapple is fruiting here in Warkworth! 🍍

It’s still pretty early (and cold!) for pineapples here, but growing inside the glasshouse gives them that extra warmth and helps them along a little faster. 🌱☀️

I had fruit from this plant last summer and it was absolutely delicious — sweet, juicy and beautifully aromatic. The smell when it was ripe was amazing! 😋🍍

Can’t wait for this little one to grow and ripen. 💚

They’re only about a week old, so we’ll be giving them plenty of time to grow and establish before they’re ready for their new homes. 🌱💚

Seedlings will be available once well established.

🍍Red Pineapple – Rooted Crown🍍

Beautiful Red Pineapple plants grown from crowns taken from our own mature, fruiting Red Pineapple plant.

These crowns have already been rooted and established in pots, so they are ready to continue growing rather than starting from a fresh, unrooted crown.

Red Pineapple is a striking tropical fruit plant with attractive spiky foliage and produces a beautiful reddish-coloured pineapple when mature. It makes an unusual addition to a tropical garden, greenhouse, sunny patio or large container.

Growing conditions:
🌱Prefers a warm, sunny and sheltered position
🌱Plant in very free-draining soil
🌱Allow the soil to dry slightly between watering
🌱Protect from heavy frost, especially while young
🌱Can be grown in a pot and moved to a protected area during colder weather
🌱In warmer, frost-protected parts of New Zealand it may also be grown outdoors

🍀The plants pictured are examples of the rooted crowns available. Size and shape will vary slightly as each plant is naturally grown.

🍍First and last photos show the mature Red Pineapple fruit from our own plant🍍

I’m a small home-based plant grower in Warkworth. Most of my indoor plants are propagated and grown by me from cuttings, and I also grow tropical fruit trees from seed. 🌱

Everything is grown and cared for here at home in my glasshouse and growing area until it’s ready for a new home. ❤️

I took some cuttings from the mother plant that need to trim and plant them straight away into soil. I use this method because is faster and efficient than put them in the water or spagmoss ect.
