This open courtyard design creates a seamless dialogue between clean architectural lines and natural elements. By carving out this central void, natural light pours deep into the surrounding spaces while lush greenery breathes life right into the heart of the structure. It is a constant reminder that the best designs do not just build around nature—they invite it to become an essential part of daily life.

At 3 Points Consultant, we believe architecture should breathe with its environment. This custom perforated facade utilizes geometric R.C.C. blocks to promote natural ventilation while providing deep shading, effectively managing heat gain without compromising on aesthetic texture.

Project brief:
ABM Infra Prantik: A Study in Boldness, Oneness, and Climate-Responsive Architecture

Situated on a prominent east- and north-facing corner plot in Mohakhali DOHS, Dhaka, ABM Infra Prantik is an eight-story multifamily residential building that beautifully balances community visibility with private sanctuary. The project optimizes its context through a dual-typology layout: the first two levels are designed as expansive single-unit residences, while the upper five floors transition into efficient double-unit apartments.
The building’s spatial organization is driven by environmental responsiveness. Service cores—including stairs, lifts, and kitchens—are strategically zoned to the west to block intense afternoon heat. Conversely, bedrooms occupy the eastern wing, while the living, dining, and family areas are arranged in a continuous north-south spine. This open-plan configuration maximizes cross-ventilation, floods the interior with natural light, and creates a seamless, grand sense of space.
Facing the vibrant DOHS playground to the east, the facade features deep, deep-set balconies. These function as versatile semi-outdoor spaces that embrace the views while acting as structural shading devices—mitigating harsh morning glare in the summer and welcoming passive solar warmth during winter. To counter solar heat gain from the south and east, custom-cast concrete hollow blocks are utilized, forming a dynamic, breathable skin. At street level, the ground-floor boundary wall is designed with a perforated metal screen, establishing an immediate dialogue of transparency with the urban fabric.
ABM Infra Prantik’s material palette embraces raw authenticity. Exposed cast concrete serves as the primary structural and visual medium, dramatically contrasted by minimalist MS louvers, sleek metal railings, and clear glass. Integrated planter boxes punctuate each floor to introduce organic softness against the brutalist undertones, culminating in an open roof terrace designed as a safe, green play area for children. Ultimately, the project stands as a bold, unified architectural statement that harmonizes contemporary urban living with tropical climate sensibilities.

A new venture at Basundhara R/A
Principal Architect: Tapon Kanti Sarker
Project Architect: Tanveer Hasan Tonmoy
Visualization: Rahamat Ali

Project Brief:
This proposed apartment building in Basundhara R/A, Dhaka, responds to its north-facing urban context through a design that prioritizes material honesty, light, and greenery. The architecture expresses the natural character of its materials, allowing texture and structure to remain visible and authentic. Layered balconies, planted terraces, and vertical vegetation introduce generous green spaces that soften the urban edge and improve microclimate. The rooftop garden and open terrace create shared outdoor spaces for residents. Together, these elements form a calm, breathable living environment within the dense fabric of Dhaka’s growing residential neighborhood.

DRMC New Academic Building
Competition Entry

“A Living Academic Court — Learning Around Light, Air, and Nature”
The proposal for DRMC grows from its historic campus and its proximity to the National Parliament Complex designed by Louis I. Kahn. The new academic building takes inspiration from Kahn’s clarity of structure, disciplined repetition, and his deep respect for natural light. These ideas are reinterpreted for a dense educational setting where openness, ventilation, and environmental comfort are essential.
The building is planned as two long north–south academic bars framing a large central court—a shaded internal landscape that becomes the social and environmental heart of the project. This court organizes movement, encourages gathering, and works as a passive cooling chamber. The ground floor remains fully open, allowing the campus greens to flow underneath the building and maintaining the permeability that defines DRMC’s identity.
Brick as the primary material ties the building to Dhaka’s architectural culture and references the solidity of Kahn’s monumental work next door. Exposed concrete keeps the construction honest and economical, while recessed windows, sun breakers, and deep shadows shape a comfortable learning environment through climate-responsive design.
The overall idea is simple: an academic building that breathes, shades, shelters, and connects. A structure that becomes part of the DRMC landscape while preparing the campus for the next generation of students.
