Most people know batts as traditional insulation. They can work well when correctly selected, installed and kept firmly in position.
But under a floor is a very different environment to inside a wall or ceiling.
Underfloor insulation can be exposed to air movement, moisture, difficult access, pipes, cables, joists and penetrations — and its performance relies heavily on how well it is fitted and how well it stays in place.
If batts begin to sag, move or leave gaps, you can end up with areas of the floor that aren't properly insulated.
