Rabbits may not predate on native animals like other invasive species, and yet they are one of the most devastating introduced species this country has ever seen.🌾
Whether it’s devouring crops, destroying soil integrity or outcompeting other ground-dwelling animals, rabbits cause significant land destruction and cost the Australian agriculture sector more than $200 million each year.
They also pose a threat to hundreds of native animals and plants. 🌱
Our CEO Jack Gough spoke to the Saturday Paper, calling on the Government to fund a new rabbit biocontrol.
“Mother Nature is very good at exponential growth. It can feel like there's almost none there and then overnight, suddenly you're like, why are there rabbits everywhere.” he said.
