We have a wide variety of bare-rooted fruit trees here! All the way from Balhannah Nurseries.

These fruit trees are deciduous without soil and are currently dormant during winter. Winter is the time to plant them! Bare- rooted trees establish their roots really well once planted, dormant trees suffer less transplant shock.

HOW TO PLANT:

PREPARE YOUR SOIL - Add organic matter to enrich soil (aged compost - SA Compost is always a great option) mix of aged manure or blood and bone.

UNWRAP AND SOAK - Unwrap the bag from the tree and shake off the saw dust. Soak the roots in a bucket of water with a little added Seasol for around 24 hours.

PLANT - Once you have finished soaking the roots, plant the tree as soon as possible. Planting the depth of the roots and add a stake if you need to for the tree to have support.

MULCH - After planting add mulch around the base of the tree for protection, to support water retention and drainage, plus it adds extra organic matter!

The tree will then start to wake up early to mid spring and this is when you can start to fertilise to support growth.
