September edible grow guide is here!
Spring has arrived, which means warmer soil, longer days and plenty of opportunities to get planting. Find your climate zone and see what you can grow this month.
Tropical
Warm-season favourites are ready to go. Plant beans, capsicum, cucumber, eggplant, okra, pumpkin, sweet corn, watermelon and zucchini, alongside herbs and leafy greens.
Sub-tropical
Spring planting is underway with basil, beetroot, carrots, chilli, eggplant, lettuce, okra, potatoes, pumpkin, radish and rockmelon all on the list.
Arid
There’s plenty to choose from this month, including beans, capsicum, cucumber, eggplant, sweet corn and squash, plus beetroot, cabbage, carrots and leafy greens.
Warm temperate
Cool-season crops are still going strong. Plant beetroot, cabbage, carrots, lettuce, peas, potatoes, radish and spinach, along with garlic, leeks and shallots.
Cold temperate
Cooler conditions mean there’s still time for artichoke, asparagus, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, peas, radish and shallots. As spring warms up, keep an eye on local frost conditions before getting too ambitious with warm-season crops.
