Bobbi's excited today!!

Brett & Bobbi were on the old 60c feed in tariff in Victoria for 15 years, it ended November 2024. For 15 Years they were getting credits, those credits paid for their gas bill, school fees and more.

However 60c turned to 3c and now often less. So they had to re think their whole system, after all you get used to having no electricity bill.

They have also been electrifying their house too, primarily their heating and cooling, and they got an electric vehicle, so their usage was changing in a number of ways.

They updated their old solar and battery system, and shopped around for a new retailer that gave them a bit extra reward. Most of their bills have been quite small as they got used to how to maximise the benefits. Globirds 3 hours of power for free (11-2 every day), has really helped them during winter - they could fill their battery during that time for NOTHING and then have a full battery for night time, even on over cast days.

They even got a little cheeky in winter and would charge their battery, charge the EV, and have the dishwasher and dryer going all in that 3 hour window FOR FREE!!!

And here we are back at a $0 bill AND this includes their gas usage. Yes they are still on the gas as the electric heating doesnt quite work in their awkwardly designed house so they use the gas heater at night during the dead of winter, but their gas usage has dropped significantly, by about 70-80% since installing the split systems.

We all need to rethink about what and how we are using our power, look at ways we can make things work better for US, not the electricity companies that take our power for next to nothing and sell it for year on year record profits.

From October 1 all retailers in Victoria must offer 3 free hours of power per day. So start looking into who your best retailer might be for this, and ways you can take advantage and make it work better for you!

Where’s Luke?

A few weeks ago we said stay tuned for Luke’s next adventure, well here it is!!

He is currently in China with one of our most valued wholesalers Supply Partners.

They are visiting solar panel, inverter and battery manufacturers to gain insight into the level of quality that these products are made to.

This one is BYD, we installs SO MANY BYD batteries, it’s great to get the opportunity to have a look inside and hear what’s coming next.

A couple of weeks ago Luke had the privilege of heading to New Zealand with Fronius Australia as a result of an award we won - most Reserva batteries installed.

We have used Fronius from day one, they make up 95% of inverters we install and much of our batteries installed since the jumped into that space.

Fronius is a well respected name in our industry for a reason. We always look forward to hearing what’s new.

Are home batteries just a short-term rush? Not at all. Battery uptake is growing, and we’re already starting to see the benefits, not just for households, but for the grid too.

Home batteries can help store solar, reduce pressure during peak times, and give customers more control over their power use. For many people, once they see how useful a battery is, they want even more storage.

20 years is a long time in one sector, or is it?

This year Bobbi McKibbin celebrates her 20th year in the solar industry. This is a significant milestone for most people, but in an industry as young as ours it’s extra special.

She’s seen lots of changes over the years -
* Size of panels and systems
* Batteries now mainstream
* Being well on the way to the energy transition
* Hundreds of more women actively joining the industry and attending conferences
* Many laps on the solar coaster - industry term for the highs and lows of our industry

At around 10pm last night, a large tree fell onto a powerline causing a power outage for over 1300 customers. We managed to get the power back on to 297 customers around 1am this morning.

Our crews are using specialised equipment to safely access and repair the damage. Heavy rain may cause delays but we hope to get the power back on for the remaining customers by 5pm today.
