Azzurri started out as a small concreting crew in 2004 and more than three million cubic metres later the business still thinks the same way it did then. 🏗️

From the methodology set in the office to where the pump sits on site, every decision is made by people who know what it takes to deliver the highest standard for our clients. And we do it with pride. 👷

Twenty-two years on the business is a lot bigger than it was then, but the standard is the same. Every pour, every project, every time. 💪

Boom in position, reo laid out and the city just coming into view on the horizon.

This month's winner is Peter one of our Site Foreman. A quiet few minutes on the deck before the pour gets underway, and a good reminder of why the early starts are worth it.

Thanks Peter, and keep the photos coming. 📸

🔦Project Spotlight: One Sydney Harbour, Barangaroo

✅ 68 structural levels
✅ Around 300 metres of static line
✅ 88,191 m³ of concrete supplied, pumped and placed

Working with Lendlease from 2019 to mid 2024, our scope covered the basement works and Towers R2 and R3. R2 was the tallest project Azzurri had delivered at the time, and meeting its strict mix performance and sustainability requirements took nearly 20 revisions to the mix designs.

On R3 we introduced lower carbon mixes and ran the first electric concrete pump in Sydney.

This job is a milestone in Azzurri's growth, and a project everyone involved can be proud of.

October is National Safe Work Month. This year's theme is Safe work is for life.

It's a reminder that work health and safety isn't just about preventing harm in the moment. It's about protecting someone's health, their future and their life well beyond the site gate.

On a concrete job that means the planning before anyone picks up a tool, the pre start that gets run properly, and a crew who know they can speak up when something doesn't look right.

Safety here isn't a policy, a poster or a box to tick.

Every shift. Every site. Everyone's responsibility.

Congratulations to Raffaele Volante on receiving Azzurri's August Monthly Quality Award 🏆

Raff consistently shows a strong commitment to quality and takes real pride in getting the job done right. Throughout Project Bluetongue, he ew with great attention to detail, making sure a high standard of workmanship is maintained across every stage of the project.

It's people like Raff who set the benchmark for what quality looks like on site. Well deserved, Raff 👏

Big pour energy!

4,000 starter bars projecting up through the deck, ready for a topping slab down the track. Nobody can walk on that. So the entire slab has to be placed off the boom.

Which is how you end up running two of the largest boom pumps going, a 51 metre and a 56 metre, with the 51 feeding an 18 metre spider boom to reach every last corner of it.

700 cubic metres. 2,500 square metres. 95 loads. First truck through the gate at 6:30am, last one at 4:30pm. 34 crew working as two separate pouring teams.
Ten hours. No gaps. No cold joints.

That's what planning looks like when it goes right, and it comes down to a crew who know exactly what they're doing.

Most companies have their values on a poster near the kitchen.

Ask the crew on site what they are and you'll get a shrug. Not here.

We asked Judd, and he answered without pausing.

Say it, do it. The programme we agreed with the client is the programme we hold.

Excellence every time. What was promised at the start is what gets delivered.

We lead from the front. Management on site, on every job, standing with the crew.

Concrete doesn't wait for a workshop.

👷 Meet the team: Giuseppe Bologna, Site Foreman.

"Concrete was always in my blood."

Eleven years at Azzurri. His day starts with the pre start, running the crew through the procedure, setting the exclusion zones for the mobile plant and directing the agitators in and out.

"Everything on a pour day has to line up. The mix, the timing, the crew and the pumping."

That is the job in one sentence. Four things that each depend on the other three, held together across a day by one person walking the deck.

"You do it right the first time. Every pour."
