We are proud to be a major sponsor for the 2026 Sprint Food Drive! 💛

Today and tomorrow, City Mission and the Lions Club will be outside participating supermarkets across North and North-West Tasmania, collecting non-perishable food donations for those in need.

When you see these incredible volunteers on your grocery run, please consider picking up an extra item or two, whether it’s canned goods, pasta, or pantry staples.

One small act of kindness can provide practical support and comfort to someone facing a difficult moment in life.

For more information about what's needed, participating locations, and other ways to support, visit citymission.org.au/spring-food-drive.

It was a pleasure hosting the Huonville High School students! We love having the opportunity to share what we do and hopefully inspire the next generation of builders, joiners, and industry leaders.

A big thank you to Beacon Foundation, PCYC Tasmania, TCCI, and everyone involved for organising such a great initiative. Best of luck to the students on their future career pathways! 👏🏗️

We are thrilled to announce that our Glass & Aluminium business has won the 2026 Australian Glass & Window Association (AGWA) Commercial Window or Glass Project ($250,000–$750,000) award for the UTAS Forestry & Timber Yards Building ‘The Forest’ project!

This project revived and restored an existing structure in Hobart’s CBD, turning it into a calm, natural learning space. By blending raw materials with thoughtful design, the space pays homage to Hobart's architectural heritage while creating an inspiring environment for the future.

Viridian 13.52 Evant custom laminate glass was selected for its unique interlayer and light reflectivity properties, which draw natural light and sky reflection deep into the building, while maintaining privacy for internal offices. The finish beautifully balances the warmth of the Tasmanian oak timber framing and sustainable hempcrete pods.

A huge congratulations to Leading Hand Mark Boud and his team. Mark led this major project with exceptional workmanship, clear communication, and meticulous attention to detail from start to finish. Outstanding effort!

Thank you to our main contractor partner at Hansen Yuncken, as well as the entire team of architects, builders, and subcontractors who brought this vision to life. It was an absolute privilege to contribute to an award-winning landmark space that you truly have to experience in person to appreciate.

🏆 Great workplaces don't happen by accident – 2026 Employer of Choice Award 🏆

We're proud to share that Vos Group has been named a 2026 Tasmanian Employer of Choice under the Tasmanian Government's Employer of Choice Recognition Program — an accolade given to organisations that genuinely invest in their people and build workplaces where staff want to stay and grow. 💪

Our People, Safety & Systems Manager, Kim Dillon, accepted the award from Minister for Skills and Jobs Felix Ellis MP, joined by (L to R): Mollie Ford (Carpenter), Anna Bennett (PSS Adviser), Stuart Percey (Shopfitting Business Unit Manager), Kurt Jones (CEO), Kim Dillon (PSS Manager), Darren Vos (Chairperson), Mark Cocker (QHSE Manager) & Jack Lynch (Site Manager).

In his address, Kim made a point of saying our people strategies have never been about ticking a box — it's about the initiatives that actually deliver real, positive outcomes for our people. ✅

So what got us here? Not one single thing — a few things working together:

🌱 Our Emerging Leaders Program, quietly building the next generation of Vos Group leaders

🎯 Real investment in spotting talent early, with individual career plans so people see a future here

🤝 Proactive employee assistance, including our own team of Mental Health First-Aiders at every level of the business

🙌 A Reward and Recognition Program where our people nominate each other for living our values, backed by gift cards and a personal letter from leadership

🔨 Modernised apprentice assessment centres that have opened the door to greater diversity — including growing female participation in our trades

None of it works without the values underneath it. Relationships, Integrity, Safety and Quality aren't words on a poster for us — they shape how we make decisions and how we treat each other, on-site and off.

💬 "What drew me to Vos Group was its reputation and career-driven culture, and since joining in 2012, I've had endless opportunities to grow toward my goal of becoming a Site Manager. The annual PDR program keeps me focused on my progress toward my career goals, while the Reward and Recognition program has shown me how much nominating peers for their hard work strengthens our team culture.

Our yearly Business Unit meetings bring site teams, management and HR together, often with guest speakers on health and wellbeing, and encourage us to use the EAP whenever we need it.

But the Emerging Leaders Program has been the most impactful part of my journey — the 12-month training gave me life skills as much as management skills that have shaped me as a person and leader. Vos Group's commitment to growth and wellbeing is why I'm still here after over a decade." — Jack Lynch, Site Manager

Awards like this aren't really about a plaque or a headline. They're a nod to everyone who shows up and makes Vos Group the kind of place worth working for. So — thank you. 🙌

🎉 Celebrating Alan McGuire’s Retirement 🎉

The time has come for the well-deserved retirement of Alan McGuire. Congratulations, and thank you for a long and distinguished career with Vos!

Alan has spent over 45 years working for Vos Joinery across two separate stints. He has been a remarkably dedicated employee, bringing a high skill set to all facets of the trade. His work ethic never wavered throughout his tenure. Something to be incredibly proud of, and a reason he is so widely respected.

Alan’s experience has been greatly appreciated by the joinery team and the business as a whole, with his workmanship admired beyond these walls. He has always been the person you could rely on to get the job done on time and to a high standard, and he was never afraid to be challenged. He was always willing to help out, bringing an excellent attitude and a genuine care for what we were aiming to achieve. This will be sorely missed.

Another great trait of Alan’s was his willingness to help younger team members. He almost always had an apprentice under his guidance. He enjoyed the banter (and there was plenty of it!), but he also loved seeing the younger generation succeed. Many current and past employees have Alan to thank for his guidance, patience, and laughs, all while continuing to be ultra-productive. “Come on, work quicker, think quicker!” he would often say.

He has mentored and had a lasting influence on so many people here over his 45+ years. It's a real credit to him and won’t be forgotten by those he has helped along the way. His loyalty, honesty, work ethic, skill, dedication, and humour are things we will all truly miss.

We wish Alan all the best in retirement. Take it easy, don’t watch too much sport, spend some quality time with the family, and keep on cooking up a storm. Maybe one day the Mighty Blues will get back in contention - just don’t hold your breath, mate! All the best.

PROJECT SHOWCASE
Burnie Arts & Function Centre Redevelopment

We are incredibly proud to showcase the redevelopment of the Burnie Arts and Function Centre. Our North-West team delivered a high-performance facility combining architectural ambition, technical precision, and community value.

Key features include the expansive “Long Room” foyer and exhibition space—housing permanent cultural displays and flooded with northern light—a new café extension, and an internal courtyard transformed into a glazed atrium that serves as a light-filled circulation heart.

Universal accessibility is seamlessly integrated, with a timber and steel staircase and a lift connecting the lower ground floor to Level 4 town hall seating, ensuring compliant balcony access for all visitors. Extensive zinc cladding enhances durability and coastal resilience while boosting visual appeal, beautifully complementing the new plaza improvements.

Thank you to our valued client, Burnie City Council, for this collaboration in the Burnie community. Huge congratulations to our project team, subcontractors, and X Squared Architects.
