We’re seeing a lot more dark pool tiles lately, and it’s easy to see why.

Black pool tiles don’t necessarily mean black water. They pick up the sky, trees and light around them, so the pool colour changes throughout the day.

They also absorb more heat from the sun than lighter finishes, which can help warm the water naturally.

A good choice for a pool surrounded by this much bush.

Not your usual pool tile.

This deep green from Signorino Tile Gallery has now been laid throughout our Portsea pool and spa, and it’s a pretty extraordinary choice across a pool of this scale.

What you see here won’t be the colour you see once it’s filled either. Water, depth and changing light will completely transform it, which is why we’re particularly keen to see this one filled.

A beautiful choice.

You get to see a lot more of a pool before the water goes in.

Our Alphington project, designed by Peachy Green Landscape Architects has some beautiful geometry running through it. The curved spa, steps and built-in seating soften the pool form, with the mosaic tile carrying across every surface.

It’s also the stage where the detail in the build is probably most visible, particularly around those curves.

We’ve really enjoyed working on this one with Peachy Green and Avoca Landscape Construction and seeing a strong landscape design come together around the pool.

Our Wattle Glen project has moved along pretty quickly since we last shared it.

There’s been a huge amount of work from the team in a short space of time, and the pool is well and truly starting to take shape.

Still plenty to come, but you can already see just how good that outlook is going to be from the water.

Some pools come to us with a very clear design already in place. LUMEhouse was one of them.

Our job is to understand what’s been designed, work through how we’re going to build it, and make sure the finished pool stays true to the original idea.

Swipe through and you’ll see the original render alongside what was built.

We really enjoy this side of the job, working with designers to stay true to their brief and ultimately give the client the pool they had envisioned.

Not a bad spot for the next one.

Setting out in Wattle Glen, with bushland all around and views stretching right across to the city.

No pool to see just yet, but we reckon this one will be worth following.

Sometimes the best pool colour comes from everything around it.

The dark tile works beautifully here, picking up the sky, the trees and the changing light throughout the day. With an outlook like this, it makes sense to reflect as much of it as possible.

A classic choice for a pretty incredible setting.

A pool looks very different at this stage.

Steel fixing underway and the team’s getting everything in place before concrete.

A lot of the work we’re most particular about is the stuff you’ll never see once the pool is finished.
