4 Quick Wins for a Pest-Free Home 🏡🐜🪳
Small habits = big results (especially after a wet, humid season). Here are four easy things you can do this week:

1️⃣Remove debris from around the outside of your home
Leaf litter, mulch piles, timber offcuts and cluttered corners hold moisture and create perfect hiding spots for pests (and termites). Keep garden beds tidy and avoid storing timber against the house.

2️⃣Empty indoor garbage regularly + use a lidded bin
Food scraps and smells attract cockroaches, ants and rodents fast—especially overnight. A tight-fitting lid and frequent emptying stops your bin becoming the “buffet.”

3️⃣Seal pet food (and remove bowls after feeding)
Pet kibble is a magnet for ants, cockroaches and rodents. Store food in airtight containers and don’t leave bowls out overnight—pests love a free feed.

4️⃣Keep pantry food sealed
Open packets = easy access. Decant flour, cereal, sugar and snacks into sealed jars/containers and wipe shelves clean of crumbs to stop pantry pests taking hold.

3 Common Pests… and the risks most people don’t think about 🪳🐜🕷️

In Brisbane, these are the three we’re called out for the most — and they’re not just “annoying”:

🪳 Cockroaches
They can contaminate food and surfaces and trigger allergies/asthma — especially in warm, humid weather.

🐜 Ants
More than a nuisance. Some species can get into wall cavities and even impact wiring, leading to shorts and damage.

🕷️ Spiders
Most are harmless, but species like the redback can be dangerous — and bite risks go up when they’re hiding in shoes, sheds and stored items.
