Meet Kate, one of our Orthopaedic Senior Resident Medical Officers.

Kate is a Wagga local who completed her junior medical officer years at MLHD, a decision that she credits to finding her specialty and getting the best start possible to her career.

“I have always had a goal to serve the community that gave so much to me growing up.”

“Being a Doctor in the MLHD not only lets me do that, but it also allows me to serve the smaller and more remote communities that surround us.”

Kate encourages other junior doctors to apply for the 2027 JMO program at MLHD, saying “MLHD looks after their own and helps you to achieve your career goals from day one.”

“I wouldn't dream of being a doctor anywhere else.”

Passed away peacefully at Calvary Hospital on Monday, 5 January 2026. Beloved wife of Leo “Jacko”, devoted and loving mother and mother-in-law to Debbie and Peter, Scott (deceased), Bridget and Robert, and Daniel and Coralie. Much-loved and adored grandmother of Kate, Hannah, Abbey, Wil; Rosabelle, Anastasia, MacGregor; Henrietta. Aged 84 years.

Patti’s family extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Dr Helen Boland, Professor Gerard Carroll, Associate Professor David Palmieri, and the wonderful staff of Calvary Hospital, especially the Palliative Care Unit and nursing team, for their compassionate care and support.
