When clients in the food and wine industry design a kitchen, commercial-grade functionality and effortless entertaining space are top of the list. For this Carrickalinga home on the Fleurieu Peninsula, the brief called for a streamlined, minimalist galley kitchen centered around a statement island that could handle serious hosting while tying into polished concrete floors.
Every element was custom-crafted to balance clean lines with hardworking practicality:
• Tactile Material Contrast: A 35mm solid Jarrah island benchtop with 75mm laminations brings rich natural warmth against satin cabinetry.
• Clever Engineering: To preserve the natural light from the window above the overhead cupboards, the rangehood flue was custom-ducted horizontally through the cabinetry rather than through the ceiling.
• Practical Problem Solving: To protect the wide garden window splashback from cooking splatters, we deepened the cooktop run to a custom 700mm depth.
• Sleek Functionality: Push-to-open hardware and soft close fittings were installed to make the clients everyday use streamline and enjoyable.
