Electrical Safety Fortnight got off to an early start today at Toowoomba East State School, highlighting the strong partnership between the Electrical Safety Office, Energy Queensland, Ergon Energy Network and Energex in promoting electrical safety across Queensland communities.

The event also marked the launch of the Ergon-Energex Safety Heroes program, helping young Queenslanders learn how to stay safe around electricity. The ESO delivered important electrical safety messages to students and staff and showcased the Electrical Safety Trailer, providing hands-on safety education.

The Electrical Safety Regulation 2026 will commence on 1 September.

The regulation has been reviewed and remade to ensure it remains relevant, fit for purpose and efficient.

It replaces the Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 when it expires on 31 August 2026.

While there are no changes to the policy intent or regulatory requirements, the key changes include:
✅ New section and part numbers
✅ Reordering of provisions to improve navigation and strengthen the connection to the Electrical Safety Act 2002.
✅ Changes to the look and feel of provisions to make them clearer and remove duplication.
✅ Technical, procedural and administrative amendments to align with industry best practice.
✅ Removal of duplicate or redundant provisions.

Announcement

As many of you know I have battled Multiple Myeloma and went through treatment.

Unfortunately, while my MM is still okay, my health has taken a downturn and i am unable to take on any work

As well no longer having employed electrician, or a subcontracting electrician to work with me at the present time. Head hunting ongoing
If this changes i will post again.

However, for the time being I am unable to take on any new work.
