From blank walls to statement features.

At Hawthorn House, used architectural mouldings and wainscoting to introduce the detail, character and refinement the interiors were missing, bringing them into balance with the home's grand exterior.

The entry's curved archway features CR84 kerfed to the radius of the front door, with CR64 chair rail and IN33 inlay mould wainscoting continuing through into the open living areas. Downstairs, rosettes anchor the panelling around the basement's American Oak joinery and fireplace, where the palette turns darker and more formal.

Material selection sets the tone. This farmhouse palette by sits warm fluted timber, cool stone, brushed brass, and a hexagonal mosaic side by side, shaping the direction for an entire home. Limewash walls have a particular relationship with skirting🍋‍🟩

The matte finish absorbs light, so the skirting line at the floor becomes the only hard edge in an otherwise even wall. A high-gloss skirting in this context fights the wall. Match the skirting to the limewash – same colour, same matte – and the line disappears entirely into the architecture.

If you're specifying limewash, make sure your skirting knows its place.
