We’re excited to welcome Zac to the Gaffke’s Bega team! 🌿

Originally from Yass and now based in Tathra, Zac loves working outdoors and takes great pride in helping transform gardens into spaces people can truly enjoy. Drawn to Gaffke’s by our wide variety of work and welcoming team, he’s excited to be part of delivering quality gardening and landscaping services throughout the Bega Valley.

One of Zac’s favourite parts of the job is seeing the before and after of every property. He believes that regular maintenance and consistent watering are the foundation of a healthy, thriving garden.

When he’s not at work, you’ll find Zac fishing, playing golf or spending time with his two cats, Miracle and Millee. Miracle has a particularly special story - she was found at just an hour old and has been lovingly raised ever since, while Millee was rescued from a local shelter.

A fan of homemade lasagna, warm summer days and with Europe at the top of his travel bucket list, Zac brings a great attitude and genuine passion for outdoor work to the team.

If you’re in the Bega Valley shire, there’s a good chance you’ll see Zac out and about helping keep local properties looking their best.

🌿 Weekly Plant Spotlight: Acacia Pravissima 🌿

Also known as Ovens Wattle, a beautiful Australian native with a soft, cascading habit. Ovens Wattle is a great choice for adding texture, movement and year-round greenery to the garden.

In late winter through spring, it produces masses of bright yellow, ball-shaped flowers, bringing a welcome burst of colour just as the garden starts waking up.

🌱 Why we love it:
• Fast-growing and hardy
• Naturally graceful, weeping form
• Vibrant yellow winter/spring flowers
• Great for screening or as a feature plant
• Attracts bees and other beneficial pollinators
• Once established, it handles dry conditions well

It generally grows to around 3–5 metres tall and wide and performs best in full sun to part shade with well-drained soil.

A really versatile native for anyone wanting something lush, informal and full of seasonal colour. 💛

We’re looking for reliable, motivated people to join our garden maintenance teams!

If you enjoy working outdoors, take pride in your work and love seeing the difference a great day in the garden can make, we’d love to hear from you.

🌱 Your day could include:
• Lawn mowing & edging
• Whipper snipping
• Weeding
• Hedge & shrub trimming
• Pruning
• General garden maintenance
• Working across a variety of residential and commercial properties

Experience is great, but attitude is just as important. We’re looking for people who are hardworking, reliable, willing to learn and enjoy being part of a team.

🌵One less cactus, one more usable space.

This cactus had outgrown its welcome, so we safely removed it from the top down before grinding out the stump below ground level. No regrowth, no trip hazard - just a clean slate ready for whatever comes next.
