Another step forward with the homestead bathroom renovation. 🤍

The builder came out last week to look at the changes I’m wanting to make, and thankfully the wall we’re altering isn’t structural — which means we can move the doorway and he’ll be back within the next couple of weeks to get started.

One of the things that’s really important to me with this renovation is that it stays in keeping with the home. I want the new doorway and bathroom layout to feel as though they could have always been there — working with the character and the way this old homestead was originally designed.

In this reel, I’m also walking you through where everything will sit — the shower, bath, toilet, vanity, and storage cupboard.

It’s starting to feel very real now. 🤍

Renovating my family homestead has been about so much more than choosing beautiful finishes.

For the bathroom, I found the most incredible Calacatta Viola marble — and then came the beautiful realisation that my great-aunt, who once lived in this home, was also named Viola.

One of those little moments that feels like more than coincidence. 🤍

As I continue the next chapter of this 1900s family homestead, I’m loving the unexpected ways its history — and the people who lived here before me — continue to weave themselves into the story.

Just putting the final touches on a few rural client projects from a recent trip out west.

I worked with a client in Roma to design a kitchen and laundry renovation, then stopped in Miles to spend an evening with a wonderful group of women talking about the fascinating depth of Feng Shui. Thank you Lisa Kennedy Collections for hosting a great night.

From there, it was on to Dalby to begin plans for the renovation of a beautiful family homestead.

What I love most about these trips is the variety of homes, meeting the people behind them, and helping bring their ideas to life.

Bathroom layouts are often locked in too quickly.

And once they’re built—there’s no easy fix.

As a designer, I look at:
– considered space for ease of movement
– precise placement of each fixture
– proportions that bring the room into balance

I also consider, as a Feng Shui practitioner, how water enters and leaves the space—
and how that supports the people living in the home over time.

A bathroom should feel calm.
Grounded. Resolved.

Get the layout right first.
