Today, the first Stllhaus project completed its blower door test.
Result: 0.37 ACH @ 50Pa.
A result you cannot see in a finished home, but you feel every day.
A blower door test measures how much air leaks through gaps, junctions and construction details.
Why does that matter?
Because air leakage is one of the hidden reasons many homes feel uncomfortable, expensive to run and hard to keep healthy.
Draughts and temperature swings.
Wasted heating and cooling.
Constantly adjusting the temperature but never feeling comfortable.
Uncontrolled air movement and higher energy demand.
Condensation on walls, windows or inside the building fabric.
Mould you can see, and mould you often cannot see, but may still feel through poorer air quality, irritation, allergies, asthma or respiratory symptoms.
Moisture moving through the building fabric can also affect durability and structural integrity.
The average new Australian home tests at roughly 15.4 to 15.5 ACH at 50Pa. Older or less-sealed homes can exceed 20 to 30 ACH.
High-performance homes aim for less than 1.0 ACH. Certified Passivhaus requires a maximum of 0.6 ACH.
Stllhaus One achieved 0.37 ACH on its first test.
That is around 98% less air leakage than the average new Australian home.
