Just a quick reminder for anyone out there that's thinking of starting a build or extension early in the new year, it's only the end of August now, but it's roughly a 4-week turnaround our end to prepare Plans, Energy Efficiency Reports, On-Site Sewage Design & wait for Soil Tests & Engineering to come back.

With most Councils out to a 2-3 month approval time, it's not leaving a very big window to try and get things sorted out and approved before Christmas if you don't initiate the process in the next couple of weeks.

It's great to see projects evolve from the planning stage through to completion, see the 3D Model, Walkthrough & Plans we prepared for this build late last year on the Right, with the virtual tour of the completed building on the left.

We have recently purchased a 360-Degree camera/Lidar scanner which basically has the capability to scan a building taking measurements and 360° photographs of a structure internally and externally, which can then produce a 3D CAD Model as well as 3D Virtual Tours & Floor Plans.

So essentially if you are looking at doing an extension or alterations but don’t have any plans of the existing building to work off, we can simply scan the building and it will process the data into a 3D CAD model of the existing structure to work off, saving many hours of measuring and drafting of the existing building.

I have been receiving a fair bit of enquiry lately for manufactured/fold out homes etc. similar to those pictured below, due to their cost and the fact that most companies selling these are telling customers that these buildings don't require Council approval or that they can easily be approved by Council as a 'Habitable Dwelling'. Please note this is not true, I'm not saying this applies to every company selling these, but this has been the case with the ones I have come across, so if anyone is considering these buildings, do some research prior to purchasing/giving them a deposit.

Just letting everyone know there are some pretty significant changes proposed to the Energy Efficiency requirements for new buildings across Australia in the next 12 months. So for anyone thinking of building soon you probably want to either have your applications lodged before October 2023 or allow for a pretty big hit with additional insulation & glazing costs.

Building Ministers have agreed to the final changes to the 2022 edition of the National Construction Code.
