We've been a little quiet on Facebook lately, but that's because we've been extremely busy with lamb marking, weaning lambs, and crutching.

At the beginning of this year, after a lot of planning and designing, we got our own custom-built 3-stand crutching trailer up and running. It was designed to improve efficiency while making the job easier on both our staff and the sheep, and we're extremely pleased with how it's been performing.

We've travelled to many properties, working with both existing and new clients, and we're pleased to say we have capacity to take on more work.

If you're looking for reliable crutching service, give Jack a call on 0437 490 366

Just thought we’d share this — a great way to finish off the year.

This is Fiji Freddy. He has been working with us for the last three years lamb marking and crutching. When we have gaps in our work, I share him with a local shearing contractor, KelMac Shearing, where he does a great job pressing and rousing.

He has been shearing a few on the hour and at the end of the runs, and yesterday he got his first 100.

Great effort, Freddy — and many more to come.

As the year draws to a close, we at Speeds Rural Contracting would like to thank all our clients, old and new, for your continued work and support throughout 2025.

It’s been a busy year with crutching, lamb marking, drenching, needling and back-lining taking us to many different places along the way.

I’d also like to thank our wonderful staff, who do a great job day in and day out — sometimes in freezing conditions one day and 40 degrees the next. We’ve still got Jack, Rooster, the always-entertaining Trevor, and the four Fijian boys: Freddie, Meki, Mal and Penji. Basa decided to head back home to Fiji during the year. It was great having him with us and watching him learn the ropes over the last couple of years and grow into a real asset to the team. We wish him all the best for the future and hopefully see him back out here again one day.

A big thank you as well to those who helped us out when we needed extra hands — Watto, Liam, Darce, Georgia, Carty B and the two Clancys.

I’d also like to thank Renae for all the work she does behind the scenes with the business bookwork — something we truly couldn’t do without.

Merry Christmas to everyone. Enjoy some well-earned downtime with your families, and we wish you all the best for the coming year — and hopefully your rams have been doing what they do best 🐑🐑🐑🐑

Cheers,
Speed and Nae

We are always a little quiet on the social media front but rest assured we're super busy behind the scenes!!

As Christmas nears and we get ready to farewell 2023 in a couple of weeks time, we would like to sincerely thank our clients for trusting us to look after all your stock needs once again this year.

We have so many incredibly loyal clients who have been with us since day one, many years ago and we have welcomed lots of new clients throughout the year. We are thankful for your support and we look forward to working with you again in 2024.

In 2022 we fabricated a second Lamb Marking Trailer which we are thrilled with. This trailer allows us to work under cover and keeps the lambs off the ground in the muddy/wet conditions we've had over the past couple of years.

Other services we have provided throughout the year include drenching, needing, backlining and applications through the Combi Clamp and Roberson Sheep Handler.

Some of you may have heard on the grapevine already but we decided to branch out a little and add crutching (through a 3 stand trailer) to the list of services we provide. Whilst this is not our main priority, we will definitely take on jobs where it can fit in with our marking schedule. If you are interested in having some crutching done, particularly over the summer months, please give Jack a call on 0437 490 366 (Manning Livestock Contracting) or Speedie on 0427 278544.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank our fantastic working crew! We extended our team this year with the inclusion of 4 Fijians who saw frost on the puddles during winter for the first time ever😆. We have our ever reliable Rooster still with us and the inclusion of Trevor on the crutching trailer alongside Jack and Speedie. Keeping it a family affair, Darcie and Clancy stepped in many times when our crews were split and we thank them also.

We still have 3 Kelpie Pups for sale if anyone is interested in one of them, please give us a call.

We wish you all a very happy, healthy and safe Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.
