This little piano stool is a real little gem. From the design and hand carved trims on legs, id guess it is 1890s to 1910. It has been banished to shed for many years. The owner loves to keep it original where can. We used original hand forged hindges , after much bashing to straighten and the wadding ( lots cloth trims) under the fabric.

The story of my little donkey
I was at a vintage shop out west and saw this mexican on a donkey. Its a 1950s souvenir.
It reminder me of one I saw as a child at either my parents place or grandparents.

I went to Mums and asked if she had a donkey with a mexican. She produced the mexican: same hat: same suit on a donkey... BUT A DIFFERENT DONKEY.

I kept searching in back of mums display cabinet and there I found the SAME donkey like I had bought covered in dust.

I was so excited to reunite the mexican with the correct donkey. I took a bit a liberty and made a sign as it was missing.
After a bit of research I learned that in 1950s the mexican on a donkey was a very polular as home decoration or travel souviner
I always say my work is about preserving precious memories. Im pretty excited to reunite mums mexician with her donkey.
She has no idea where she got it but in late 1950s they did a road trip to melbourne ....maybe then.

Went throught the Min Min light area. Didnt see a Min Min light but found a green light in a picture. eeek.
Back to working on a beautiful family silky Oak sideboard with new mirror just delivered to barn for when we get back.
Owner said to me " mum carried this cc everywhere we moved , I had to get it restored.

Birdsville was calling me but I didnt know what awaited me. I didnt know the rains had come again in the channel country. I hope i can describe what i was seeing.
I have a client there now a dear friend. I met Nita when she transferred to Dysart needed furniture repaired, then Monto and now principle of Birdsville school.
Nita came on a flight over channel country with me.
The first 4 pictured show the Big red from the air.
The next 5 pictures show the simpson desert sand dunes and channels. Unlike Sahara desert they dont move the vegetation keeps them together. Probably been the same for hundreds of years they said.
Next is Diamantina river where she splits in two like veins in out arms and ends in the most stunning swamp lands.
The last 3 with red and green shows where the Simpson desert and sturt red desert with flat interlocking gibber stones. the last 2 show gibber stones

Did Big Red sunset tour run by Birdsville pub. Highly recomment. ( you can drive a 4WD up but not our van). What a joy what a site. For those who have been To Big Red Bash Music festival. Its all in water where camping is, first time since 2010 we were told. They were flooded in for over 3 months.

On a quick road trip to Birdsville. Its like a pub crawl , so many town and all there is is a pub or a pub ruin. What a trip. It so so green hard to believe we are in desert country. . Doing a fly over channel country tomorrow
