Walk-in robe or bigger ensuite — what would you choose?

A walk-in robe is one of the things that comes up again and again when we first talk to clients about their renovation. Most people would love one if the space allows!

So we’ve pulled together a few WIRs from Rossmark homes over the years. They’re all real Rossmark projects — we’ve just given some of the photos a little AI tidy-up to remove personal belongings for client privacy.

It’s easy to see why WIRs are so popular. Good storage makes such a difference day to day.

But they do take up a surprising amount of floor space, and that space has to come from somewhere. Sometimes a generous walk-in robe is absolutely worth it. Other times, that space might be better used to give you a bigger ensuite or a little more room in the bedroom.

So, if you had to choose — bigger WIR or bigger ensuite?

Lee has been working alongside Rossmark for close to 20 years.

He’s our preferred plumber and has worked on more Rossmark renovations than we could probably count. He’s a great plumber, takes real pride in his work and is someone we know we can rely on.

After so many years working together, Lee knows our team, knows how we like to work and understands the standard we expect on every job.

We’re very lucky to have people like Lee around us. Good trades are important, but good people are too — and Lee is certainly both.

Here he is this week, finishing off another Rossmark bathroom.

Thinking about renovating your home but intimidated by the costs or sheer scale? 🏗️

You don't have to do it all at once! The key to avoiding financial shock and lifestyle chaos is Strategic Masterplanning.

By breaking your build into a structured 3-stage roadmap, you can learn how an integrated design-and-build process helps you future-proof your forever home safely.

Let’s be honest: looking at the sheer scale of marrying old and new can feel incredibly daunting. This isn't just about knocking down a few plaster walls;

It is all in the detail... Our wonderful apprentice Katie, adding the finishing touches to the gable detail on an entry portico, to give this home renovation the grand entry it deserves.

A significant stage of this renovation is underway.

The existing roof is being removed ready for the new roof to be installed.

Inside, there's plenty taking shape too, with a new kitchen and two new bathrooms underway. An existing large room is also being reworked to create a second living area and separate study, with additional storage being created in previously under-utilised spaces.

It's all part of making better use of the existing home and creating spaces that work better for the family.

And throughout it all, the family is continuing to live in the home while the renovation takes place.

We look forward to sharing more as the project progresses.

Smiles all round at Hurstville... even if it was freezing!

The boys sent this through from site with the message, "Cold as at Hurstville!" We thought it was too good not to share.

We spend a lot of time sharing project progress and finished homes, but it's the people behind the work who bring those projects to life.

Thanks for keeping things moving at Hurstville—whatever the weather.

One of our favourite milestones on site.

The windows have had their first clean, which means the scaffolding will soon come down.

It's always exciting to reach this stage of a project. After months of planning and construction, you can finally start to see the home as it was designed.

There are still a few finishing touches ahead, but we look forward to sharing the completed renovation with you soon.

Before we arrive for your initial site consultation, we'll send through a few questions for you to think about.

We don't expect you to have everything worked out.

We simply want to understand how you live in your home today and what you'd like to change.

What do you love about your home?

What's no longer working?

How do you use the space every day?

What would you change if you could?

We'll spend time talking through ideas, layouts and floor plans during the consultation, but having those first thoughts in mind helps us understand what's most important to you.

Sometimes it starts with a simple comment like, "The kitchen just doesn't work for us anymore." From there, the conversation begins.

One of the things we enjoy most about the design process is learning what matters most to each client.

For this first floor addition, a well-sized walk-in robe was high on the priority list. After a number of conversations and some refinement of the design, we were able to increase the size of the robe while still maintaining a comfortable bedroom layout, good flow and enough room for a king bed.

The skylight now being installed will bring natural light into the space and help create a brighter, more enjoyable room to use every day.

It's a good reminder that successful renovations aren't always defined by the rooms guests see. Often, it's the spaces used every single day that have the biggest impact on how a home functions and feels to live in.
