Cyclone Safety: How to Shut Down Your Solar System

Energex has advised homeowners to turn off their solar systems before Cyclone Alfred hits. Stay safe during the upcoming cyclone!

Here's how to shut down your solar system:

Turn off the AC 'Solar Supply Main Switch': This is usually located in your switchboard or next to your inverter.
Turn off the 'PV Array DC Isolator': This is typically located next to or underneath your inverter. WARNING: Do not open plug and socket connectors or the PV Array DC Isolator under load.

To restart your system:

Turn the 'PV Array DC Isolator' ON.
Turn the AC 'Solar Supply Main Switch' ON.
Easy to Remember: Think of the band "AC/DC" – that's the order for shutting down and restarting (AC off first, then DC; to turn back on, reverse the order).

Meet Peter!
He and his wife were on a great feed-in tariff, but with spending more time at home, they found they were using more of their solar power than selling it back to the grid.
After talking with other solar companies, they weren't finding the right fit.
We're thrilled they chose Top House Solar!
We helped them design a system that perfectly matches their current energy needs, maximising their savings and minimizing their power bills for years to come.
