Someone asked yesterday why the chest shots.

The head is rarely still, and if the fox has stopped to listen, it is likely to still move its head slightly as its senses remain alert of its environment. Its body doesn't, though.

The risk of an inhumane outcome for head shots is far greater. If your aim is slightly off, the round will damage or remove part of the jaw etc etc

A well placed chest shot has a higher percentage humane outcome and clearly will stop the pest. If the bullet misses the heart, the impact of a high velocity round and the energy it creates is more likely to stop the heart anyway, rather then a partial head shot.

Watch the latest (last night) video of a fox being removed and compare the above two aiming points in that example. Which one moves the most? The head.

Always go the high percentage humane option.

Upon reviewing the property register where we remove foxes, 92% have sheep or a neighbour sheep farming.

Furthermore, this particular spot we have removed 12 over a 5 week period as they walk into a 50m x 50m area of ground. May not seem like many but one wonders about all the other land not being covered.

And the impact a fox has - this isn't sport, its a necessity if you value our unique environment here in Australia. Have a read of the link below for why.

A full count has 19 feral pigeons.

An eviction notice has been issued.

5 min after getting in car, says 3 degrees but had to have been colder on the edge of the river flat 🥶 🧊 ☃️

Out surveying a couple paddocks. Nothing.

Try the button fox whistle in my pocket. 2329hr (time stamp) he come bolting, was having a sniff around. Always pays to scan around after a shot for a few minutes. 2332hr it seems this one came out of some oats and was trying to get around to where the first one fell.

A little later at 2354hr something I couldn't identify 100% in long grass, and then a Dame Edna Everage moment (hello possum).

Heavy fog set in.
