TfNSW CHOOSES TRIMBLE | A new site positioning setup and practical training for Transport for NSW’s Western Roads Division.

The team has upgraded to two Trimble R580 rovers with T7 tablets and two R750 base stations with TDL450B radios, replacing a system that wasn’t reaching across the whole job. The new radios provide the range crews need to receive positioning corrections throughout the site, supporting accurate set-out, grade checks and site measurements.

SITECH Solutions’ Sam Petith trained four groups of project managers, engineers, surveyors and road workers, helping the team get familiar with their new equipment, backed by ongoing regional support.

TRANSPORT FOR NSW UPGRADES TO TRIMBLE | Transport for NSW’s Western Roads Division has upgraded its site positioning equipment with two Trimble R580 rovers paired with T7 tablets, plus two R750 base stations with TDL450B radios.

The new setup replaces a system that wasn’t providing the coverage required for the job. Joe Coles, SITECH Solutions’ Construction Systems Sales representative for Western NSW and the Hunter, reports that the TDL450B radios now provide coverage across the whole site, allowing crews to use their rovers throughout the work area.

For road construction and maintenance, the rovers can be used to set out work, check levels and grades, collect site measurements and record completed works. The base stations and radios transmit positioning corrections to the rovers, supporting accurate measurements as crews move around the site.

SITECH Solutions’ Sam Petith delivered training to four groups of TfNSW staff, including project managers, engineers, surveyors and road workers, helping the people using and overseeing the equipment become familiar with the new systems.

TRIMBLE R580 READY FOR THE FIELD | Michael O’Brien from Superior Civil and Earthworks recently completed handover training for his new Trimble R580 rover and Siteworks software with SITECH Solutions Support Technician Ben Frost in Condobolin, NSW.

With the R580 providing accurate positioning and Siteworks displaying the project design in the field, Michael can see where work needs to be carried out and check it as the job progresses. The system can be used to set out points, lines and surfaces, check levels and grades, record what has been built and calculate earthworks volumes, all while working on site.

Ben’s handover training gave Michael the opportunity to work through these tasks with the equipment before using it on his projects. It’s part of the practical support SITECH Solutions provides to customers across regional NSW, from getting started with a new system to helping them make the most of it over time.

HIGHLIGHT REEL | A week of learning, sharing knowledge and getting hands-on with the latest Trimble technology.

Members of the SITECH Solutions technician, technical support and sales teams recently took part in the National Trimble Bootcamp at HPOTS in Cessnock, with training spanning both off-machine and on-machine technology.

From connected workflows and positioning technology through to practical time in the field, the week was all about building capability and keeping our team across the latest developments from Trimble.

Because staying current with the technology is about more than training. It helps us provide better advice, stronger support and practical knowledge that we can pass on to our customers.

TRIMBLE BOOTCAMP | A closer look at what the team has been working on at this week’s National Trimble Bootcamp in Cessnock.

The first part of the week focused on the latest off-machine technology and connected workflows, including Trimble WorksManager, drone photogrammetry, SMG workflows incorporating SketchUp, WorksManager Pro and the new Trimble ST30 smart target.

It’s been a chance for our technicians, technical support and sales teams to get hands-on with the latest technology, explore how the different systems work together and continue building the knowledge they can take back into their roles.

The remainder of the week moves into on-machine technology, continuing a full week of learning and technical development.

Keeping current with the latest from Trimble means we’re better equipped to support our customers as the technology continues to evolve.

TRIMBLE BOOT CAMP | Keeping our team up to speed with the latest Trimble technology.

This week, members of the SITECH Solutions technician, technical support and sales teams have been in Cessnock for the National Trimble Bootcamp at Hunter Plant Operator Training School (HPOTS).

The week brings teams together from across the country for hands-on training, technical updates and the opportunity to build their knowledge across the latest Trimble construction technology.

For our team, it’s an important opportunity to keep learning, share knowledge and stay across the technology we support every day.

Ultimately, that knowledge comes back to our customers through better advice, stronger technical support and a deeper understanding of how Trimble technology can be applied in the field.
