Lengths checked. Connections sealed. Liner handled carefully. Two sets of hands making sure the small things are right before the installation begins.

Most of this work is invisible once the job is finished. That’s the point. Repair the pipe, keep the ground where it is.

Some repairs get a little more technical, particularly where a main line meets a lateral connection.

At our recent church project, the team installed a specialised junction liner, sometimes called a satellite liner, to repair a tee connection without excavation.

The liner is positioned right at the junction, then inverted into the lateral. A specialised bladder holds it firmly against the walls of both pipes while the resin cures. It’s precise work, and the positioning has to be right.

For this job, that meant we could repair the structural damage at the branch connection without opening up more of the site than necessary. On a property like this, with access, existing structures and the surrounding grounds to work around, that matters.

There’s a fair bit that happens before the liner goes in too, including camera work and careful preparation. Once it’s cured though, the junction is sealed and the repair is done below ground, where it should be.

At St John’s Church in Gordon, a bathroom junction had cracked beneath the building. Repairing it the traditional way would have meant opening up the surrounding area and creating a much bigger job than the pipe itself.

Instead, the team worked through the bathroom access, pushed a junction liner into place and steam cured it inside the existing pipe.

Two hours later, the damaged section was repaired. No digging, no mess and no need to disturb the building around it.

Pipe problems rarely stay contained.

A recurring blockage turns into an emergency callout. A small leak reaches another apartment. Before long, owners are dealing with damage, complaints and a repair that’s become much harder to manage.

Relining allows damaged sewer and stormwater pipes to be repaired from inside the existing line, without pulling apart floors, gardens or common areas to reach them.

Some drainage jobs are easier to take on when you know who to call.

Sydney Relining caught up with Matthew from Constellation Services to talk about how the partnership works on site.

For Matthew and the team, we’re generally brought in when they come across damaged or deteriorated drainage where excavation would be difficult, disruptive or costly.

That might be part of a larger mechanical or hydraulic project. Or it might just be a standalone drainage issue that needs a specialist.

A cheaper quote can look attractive at first. That’s understandable. But with relining, the product, preparation, installation method, curing process and warranty all matter.

The cheapest job is only cheaper if it lasts.
