At Ryan McMahon Landscape and Garden Design we carry out garden maintenance, but differently.

No leaf blower and no hedge trimmer.

We take a considered approach to tidy a garden and keep as much as possible on site to create habitat. Here we tidied the overgrown hedge and created a defined boundary to the footpath using materials from the hedge to create a dead hedge we can add to over the years.

The annual cut of the meadow on one of my sites.
Cutting now, scarifing and sowing new seed (collected from site) now means they will germinate and flower next year, you don't disturb hibernating insects ('ve left an uncut space for them as well) and next year we will have a beautiful flower filled space alive with bees and insects.

I sowed:

Yellow Rattle, a semi patristic plant that weakens the grasses allowing space for wildflowers.
Wild Carrot, a biannual with beautiful white umbels.
Vipers Bugloss, a biannual with spires of blue/ purple flowers.

Hi, I'm Ryan McMahon from MUSA Landscape Architecture (soon to be Ryan McMahon Landscape and Garden Design, I'm a Falkirk based garden designer creating award winning gardens to suit all budgets.

Gardening is sometimes a little bit trial and error, I’ve noticed in my professional career sometimes plants preform as we want them to and sometimes, they do not – and these plants can be next to each other, in the same garden growing in the same conditions.

More beautiful content of the Callander Sq garden by Scotdrone

360 view in Falkirk town centre beside the empty site that will become the new theatre for the town. This viewpoint is also beside a small community garden space that was created by Blooming Bairns who are a local group of volunteers who have done a lot of work in the town centre to look after and develop attractive green spaces.
