Main Range House

“The material palette draws from what the clients call the old farmhouse’s “kangaroo grey” tones, translating them into durable materials suited to the harsh alpine environment – grey-toned Krause bricks, concrete, weathered timber, galvanised steel cladding…”

Our article by the local project is now online, see the link in our bio to read. Thanks to Sarah Webb for the words.

We are very excited to be included in The Local Project’s Issue 21 print magazine with our project: Main Range House. Thank you for including us in this issue The Local Project

This was one of the first projects we were commissioned when we started our practice six years ago and which was completed last year. A milestone for our practice. Many people were involved in bringing this project to life, in particular the Bellevarde Constructions Landscape + Design PMI Engineers

But most importantly are our clients who trusted us with designing a legacy house for their family on a site that holds a lot of meaning to them. They had a clear vision for this project which was a privilege to bring to life for them. A big thank you to our clients for this opportunity.

We look forward to being able to share more of this project.

We have been back in the office the past week and are excited about 2026!

We’ve been a bit quiet on social media as we have reflected on 5 years of our business and looking ahead to the next.

We have some exciting things planned for this year for our business and projects, and look forward to revealing throughout the year.

Pictured here is our very first completed project: a family home for friends overlooking Lake Jindabyne and the Snowy Mountains main range behind.

A sculptural timber stair connects living from sleeping, and kids quarters from the parent’s wing. We imagined the stair as the central crossover space where family members would pass, meet and talk between the two levels as they prepare for a day of skiing or hanging out on the farm.

The fireplace was a key part of the design brief for our clients, serving as both a functional and symbolic element. Salvaged bricks from the original house, carefully sorted and laid by the bricklayers, reference the old hearth, reimagined in a contemporary form. Positioned as the focal point of the main family space, the fireplace defines the connection between the kitchen, living, and dining areas.

The living spaces of our snowy monaro project were oriented to key views and elements of the site that were important to our clients; a long view to sweeping country plains, a large sculptural gum tree and a window to face a significant family tree pictured here. This image was taken just before the landscape was completed, and next spring will be awash with planting.
