Instagram is full of everyone’s best work.
Perfect finishes, perfect jobs, everything going to plan and everyone looking like the best plumber in the world.
But that’s not always the reality of being on the tools.
I think there needs to be more of this side shown as well. We’re human, we make mistakes, we get things wrong and sometimes we get a bit too confident doing something we’ve done a hundred times before.
Yesterday was one of those times for me.
I was changing a live thread while showing my apprentice how to do it. I’ve done it plenty of times before and was confident I’d get it done without shutting the complex down.
The pressure had other ideas.
I couldn’t get it done safely live, so I had to accept defeat, shut the complex down for a couple minutes and do it properly.
Not my finest moment, especially with the apprentice watching, but that’s the reality of the trade sometimes.
Instagram doesn’t always need to be a highlight reel. Sometimes you get the job done perfectly, and sometimes you get humbled.
