Looking for recommendations – lightweight torch-on roofing torch kits

Hi everyone,

We are based in Australia and run a waterproofing company where all we do is torch-on membrane. We’re looking at replacing our torch setups and I’d really appreciate some feedback from other roofers who do this work every day.

We currently have 2 × Sievert Pro 88 Titanium kits, which we bought about a year ago. They are good torches, but we’re finding them a little heavy and tiring when doing long runs all day.

The bigger issue for us has been the hoses. Both kits have had the hoses repaired around three times in the last year, and we also find the hose connection doesn’t swivel, so the hose can put quite a bit of drag/twist on the torch when you’re working for hours.

If you do torch-on membrane all day, what torch setup are you using and how do you find it for weight, hose flexibility, balance and durability?

We are proud to have delivered a 862m² three-layer torch-on waterproofing system, incorporating tapered insulation to achieve the required falls and long-term performance.
System included: • Kingspan tapered insulation
• Soprema Debotack 2–5 T-F C175 AERO self-adhesive base sheet
• Soprema DUO HT 4 SLATE-F C180 FC torch-on cap sheet

The system was designed and installed to provide a durable, high-performance waterproofing solution while incorporating thermal insulation and effective drainage.

We’ve always believed our work should reflect the experience, time and care that goes into it.

The seams should run dead straight. The selvedge should bleed evenly. A drain should look like it was always there. Even when the finished membrane will eventually be covered, we still want to step back and feel proud of the roof we’re leaving behind.

That standard has been shaped by more than 40 years of combined experience across England, Malta and Australia.

But we felt our old brand didn’t fully represent that story. It explained what we did, but not the hard work, precision and commitment behind it. It didn’t feel like the standard we hold ourselves to on every job.

So we worked with GRPL to create a new identity that does.

The new Top Torch brand is inspired by the tools we use, the heat we work with and the experience we’ve earned on roofs over a lifetime. The badge is designed to feel worked-in and built to last. The torch, flame and membrane roll sit at its centre. The black, chalk and torch-orange palette comes from the trade itself, not the predictable blues and water droplets of the wider category.

Every detail represents something real:

Heat tested.
Pride in the finish.
No shortcuts.
Just solid work.

This is a dramatic new look for Top Torch, but the values behind it haven’t changed.
