A brushwood fence in a strata complex in Edgecliff installed by the Eastern Suburbs most awarded and trusted fencing company

This brushwood fence sits within established landscaping, helping create a more private and finished garden setting without taking away from the greenery around it.

For strata properties, fencing needs to work with shared spaces, existing gardens and the overall presentation of the building. The right fence should feel considered, not like an afterthought.

Safe work starts long before the first fence panel goes in.

For National Safe Work Month, we’re highlighting what happens before installation begins — the planning, preparation and conversations that help keep our team safe on site.

That preparation can start before we even arrive, with BYDA checks, SWMS, site planning and reviewing access, levels, tools, materials, weather, neighbouring properties, landscaping and site conditions.

Once on site, our team takes the time to prepare the work area, complete toolbox meetings and make sure everyone understands the site before installation begins.

Safe work is not just a box to tick. It is part of looking after our team, our clients and the properties we work on.

Because safe work is for life.

Brushwood fencing completed in Clontarf.

Installed above the retaining wall, this fence helps screen the outdoor area while keeping the finish soft against the white masonry and surrounding greenery.

Brushwood is a great option when you want privacy without the fence feeling too harsh or heavy in the space.

Timber lap and cap fencing completed in St Ives.

This style gives the boundary a neat, solid finish while adding height and privacy to the outdoor area.

Lap and cap fencing is a classic timber option that works well when you want a strong fence line with a more finished look than standard paling.

A great result for this St Ives property, with the new timber fence sitting neatly above the existing brickwork.

Progress protos from an ongoing project had multiple levels, established landscaping and tight areas to work around, which meant planning and care were needed at every stage.

Our team is experienced in difficult-access sites where the fence needs to be installed without disrupting the surrounding garden, stonework and property features.

The finished brushwood panels sit neatly within the landscape, giving the area a more private and complete feel while working with the site’s existing levels.

Today is National Family Business Day, a chance to celebrate the people, stories and families behind Australian businesses.

Narelle and Michael Warren founded Brushwood Fencing Australia in the early 2000s and have spent the past 23+ years building the business together.

There have been plenty of early mornings, long days, challenges, milestones and achievements along the way. From starting as a small family business to growing a dedicated team, taking on larger and more complex projects and becoming Australia’s most awarded brushwood fencing specialist, it has been quite a journey.

Through all that growth, one thing has never changed, Brushwood Fencing Australia remains proudly family-owned and operated.

For Narelle and Michael, family ownership means putting their name and reputation behind the work they do, supporting the people who work alongside them, building long-term relationships with clients and continuing to improve the business year after year.

This photo of Narelle and Michael together at the Australian Fencing Awards is a special reminder of just how far that journey has taken them.

Happy National Family Business Day to family businesses across Australia. 💙

Spring is the perfect time to give your fence a quick check before the busy summer months arrive.

Pruning back hedges and plants can often reveal sections of fencing that have been hidden over winter — from leaning posts and loose materials to thinning brushwood or gates that are no longer closing properly.

A little maintenance now can help prevent bigger repairs later and get your outdoor areas looking their best before Christmas and summer entertaining.

Save our 10 Point Spring Fence Checklist and give your fence a once-over this weekend.

Brushwood fencing completed in North Sydney.

This project added a softer boundary around the garden area while working neatly with the existing building, landscaping and outdoor space.

The shaped roll top gives the fence a custom finish, helping the boundary feel less rigid and more connected to the surrounding garden.

A well-built fence should suit the property, not just sit beside it.
