Concrete pour day for the pool on our current build in Coogee.

The concrete was supplied by Asset Builders and poured by Delta Shotcrete, whose crew shaped the pool and retaining walls as it went in. The infinity edge is already taking form.

Days like this are a big moment on site, and the result is a backyard that's built to last.

Know before you build: what does a fixed-price contract actually protect you from?

Once we agree on a price, that's the price. That means no:

- Surprise costs mid-build

Good design often comes down to a handful of quiet decisions — not more, just more considered.

A few we came back to while walking through this home:

Letting an unobstructed view be the room's real decoration, rather than competing with it. Choosing one striking material — like natural stone — and letting it stand alone, rather than layering in several. Building warmth through texture (linen, timber, woven fabric) instead of relying on colour to do that work. Pairing hard and soft materials deliberately, so a space feels balanced rather than one-note. And giving a room a single anchor point — one dark, grounding element — so the eye has somewhere to rest.
