Hiya, It’s been a year since I last posted here, and in that time, I’ve been deeply immersed in designing, exploring, researching, and refining how I approach architecture. From private home renovations to competition entries exploring adaptable terrace housing, each project has been an opportunity to push boundaries and rethink how we shape spaces.

This image by captures a moment of hands-on work—a reminder that architecture isn’t just about drawings and concepts but about understanding material, assembly, and the reality of building, a thing I learned while travelling last year. Excited to share more insights on design, lessons learned, and projects that shape the way we live.

Let me know if you’d like any tweaks!

Just before Covid hit us all, in the ever-evolving landscape of work, I asked a question from some of leading designers in Workplace design including Anastasia Globa, and from : "Do we need workplace designers in the future?"

In a world where algorithms and artificial intelligence threatened to redefine the very essence of design, a group of visionary architects and designers embarked on a quest to explore the future of workplace creation.

Predicting the Future:
The architects pondered the role of technology in predicting the needs of future workspaces. Could artificial intelligence truly understand the intricacies of culture, emotion, and human connection embedded in the craft of design?

AI and Design:
The tale unfolded with a vision of a future where AI played a supporting role, not a leading one. The architects envisioned a world where technology, akin to a trusted assistant, enhanced the designer's toolkit. From data-driven insights to customized solutions, technology became the silent dance partner.

The Human Touch:
Amidst the buzz of algorithms, the chorus sang a unanimous truth—the human touch in design was irreplaceable. The architects foretold a future where craftsmanship and technology pirouetted together, creating a harmonious symphony in the architecture of work.

Conclusion:
And so, the story unfolded, weaving a tapestry of design and technology in the ever-evolving saga of workspaces. The architects' voices echoed not just the question of today but a testament to the timeless importance of design in shaping environments where creativity, innovation, and human connection thrived.

In our own narrative at , we believe in the magic of design. Crafting workspaces that transcend the ordinary, we dance with the evolving pulse of work, creating environments that inspire, connect, and elevate the human experience.

Respecting the Land.

The elevation drawing of our latest house design shows the importance of harmonising with the land. Our philosophy goes beyond aesthetics; it's about understanding the land's unique needs. By following the topography, we minimise our impact on the urban context and let the house become one with nature.

Our design minimises the amount of cut and fill, preserving the integrity of the landscape.

"Ravage" embodies the transformative journey of women.
The ballooning mass of recycled soft plastic rubber signifies the strength growing within them, pushing against societal confines. It represents the journey from confinement to liberation.

With material selection considering minimal waste and a lifespan beyond the sculpture itself, "Ravage" is a poignant reminder of the movement, celebrating the inherent power in every woman's spirit.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to several individuals and organisations whose unwavering support and collaboration have been instrumental in bringing this sculpture to life. Special thanks go to , Tom Butterworth of , , Tania McMurtry, Alan Bennett, and the IZco Electrical team.

This week, we invite you to discover our new sculpture at .

"Ravage" is more than art; Ravage symbolises the indomitable spirit of women striving for freedom, echoing the movement that ignited in Iran in 2022, transcending its borders to encompass the global struggle against female oppression. Following Mahsa Amini's tragic death, it emerges as a tribute to the courage displayed by women, resonating with their ongoing quest for liberation.

The sculpture combines various elements to tell this story. A steel grid frame represents the oppressive societal forces, akin to an unyielding cage, enveloping women. Sandstone blocks, weathered by time and elements, embody the weight of expectations and cultural norms. Eroded by life's trials, they stand as a testament to the resilience of women.

Central to Ravage is a ballooning mass of latex balloon, embodying the strength growing within women. Despite societal constraints, their spirit swells, pushing against the confines.

is a poignant reminder of the Women, Life, Freedom movement, celebrating the inherent power in every woman's spirit and honouring the ongoing quest for a world without oppression.

Stay with us as we uncover the story behind this creation.

The poetry of functionality, where every fold tells a story.

Enter a space where living and learning coexist seamlessly, a testament to purposeful design. Our project unfolded within limited space constraints, and we embraced the challenge—the centrepiece: a bifold door, a masterstroke of versatility.

During working hours, it stands tall, creating a study room that sparks inspiration. The whiteboard comes alive with ideas, fostering creativity.
But the door's true magic unfolds as daylight softens into the evening. It gracefully unfolds, revealing a family living room where togetherness blossoms. Space transforms, and dreams find a home.

In this age of space-conscious living, we celebrate the harmony of duality. Each room is a multifaceted gem in our architectural treasure chest.

Book | Schools as Community Hubs: Building ‘More than a School’ for Community Benefit

Authored by Studio Orsi

Schools as Community Hubs is a 22-chapter book bringing together research on the planning, design, governance and management of schools as community hubs—places that support the development of better-connected, more highly integrated, and more resilient communities with education at the centre. Jamileh Jahangiri, Studio Orsi Founder, authored one of the chapters focusing on Alternative Design Strategies for Secure Schools.

Abstract: In recent decades, increased attention to safety and security issues in public spaces has changed the connection of Australian schools to their surroundings. Visible security measures such as high fences around schools are becoming a common feature of the urban landscape. The diplomat fence, a type of spear-topped security fencing, dominates many school boundaries regardless of the location and needs. Some analysts and commentators emphasise the necessity of such measures due to increased security concerns. Others argue that such measures create undue anxiety by constantly reminding students, teachers and the community of presumed threats. This chapter documents the author’s research into defensible schools and discusses alternative ways to secure schools through urban, architectural and landscape design strategies, appropriate to context. Importantly, this research focuses on opportunities to remove unnecessary physical barriers and enhance schools' connections with their surrounding environments and communities.

There has been an overwelmeaning support from the community since the book has been published. the feedback from our external book reviewers with "Superb chapter! To my knowledge, there’s nothing like it." "It needs more promotion in the introduction and by the publisher overall."

Material Palette for a residential project going onsite soon.
We believe in hands-on material selection. Rather than relying solely on catalog images, we order actual samples, so that they can be subjected to various lighting conditions—both natural and artificial—to ensure they complement each other flawlessly. It's all about creating the perfect ambiance.

But that's not all. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we have a unique practice. Any surplus materials that we think might come in handy for future projects, we return to the showrooms. We're all about reducing waste and making environmentally conscious choices every step of the way.
