Welcome to Bricklayer Contractors Association of Australia (BCA). Dedicated to improving the quality, reliability and integrity of the brick and block industry for contractors. The Bricklayer Contractors Association, although an autonomous organisation, is also a special contractor group of the Master Builders Association of NSW. Master Builders’ membership fees are paid separately by BCA members.

This allows advice on industrial relations matters affecting construction and advice on application of the various regulations covering the industry. In addition, up-to-date notice is given on workers compensation requirements, superannuation obligations, occupational health and safety, payroll tax and all other matters concerning the building and construction industry. You may run a crew of 100 bricklayers or 1 we are here for you, to let you know you are not alone and to give you confidence that the noble traditional occupation that you have chosen is alive and well, and if we have anything to say in the matter for the next 100 years or more. Likewise if you are a bricklayer looking for work or about to move to a new city state or country contact us and we will put you in touch with reputable employers who are always looking for quality tradesmen.

For 38 years, Dave Simpson has been a driving force and valued member of the Fugen family, building a career and legacy that has made a lasting impact on the industry.

Fugen has also shared a long-standing connection with BCA, with Director Tim Murphy one of the founding members of what is now Bricklayer Contractors Australia, and Fugen continuing its support as a proud Platinum Member.

As Dave begins to gradually step into retirement over the coming years, we’re proud to recognise his contribution, commitment and the legacy he leaves behind.

Attention bricklayers, masonry contractors and businesses across the brick and block industry: new Silica Worker Register (SWR) requirements are coming.

PCBUs undertaking high-risk crystalline silica processing activities will need to register relevant workers and provide key business and worker details. This includes workers involved in dust-generating tasks such as cutting, grinding, drilling or processing silica-containing materials.
Now is the time to review your work practices, check your health monitoring arrangements, update worker records and prepare for the 28-day registration requirement.

Managing silica risk is not just about compliance; it is about protecting the health and safety of workers across the brick and block industry.

🚨 NCC 2025 has changed the requirements for masonry cavity ventilation. Is your next project compliant?

Bricklayers and contractors need to understand the new ventilation requirements before construction begins. From top and bottom cavity ventilation to minimum cavity depths, weephole spacing and membrane requirements, these changes could affect how your walls are detailed on site.

Save this checklist and keep it handy for your next project.

Before you start, always check:

✔ Cavity detail
✔ Membrane class
✔ Weephole dimensions
