The Rix Group has completed an in-situ load testing campaign for a large-scale solar development in regional New South Wales.

At multiple test locations, our crews installed NX Earth Truss screw anchors of different lengths to a range of embedment depths. Each anchor was then tested individually under tension and lateral load to understand how the ground responds at each depth.

Full Earth Trusses were then installed at the target embedment and tested under lateral load at the work point. This replicates how the truss carries wind and uplift loads, converting them into axial tension and compression in its two 70° screw anchors.

Load and displacement were recorded in staged increments with unload cycles, in line with AS 2159. The results confirm minimum embedment lengths and foundation capacity across the site ahead of final design.

A big shout out to our very own Jack Hughes......Piler by day and Rock Star by night......!!!

You may recognise Jack, not only for his piling expertise, but also from his recent appearance on The Voice Australia a couple of weeks a go! After a show stopping performance he successfully turned chairs and before you know it Jack is through to the next round with his coach Mel C of Spice Girl fame - Well done Jack!!

From regional New South Wales to remote Western Australia, our TD3.5 fleet has now delivered the NX Earth Truss foundation system on both sides of the country.

The RIX Group has completed installation on a remote utility-scale solar project in WA. Different state, different geology, different logistics, same specialist, same fleet, same result.

This project used the NX Earth Truss INT (Integrated) system, where the bearing is installed as part of the foundation by the truss driver. No separate bearing housing assembly on site. Fewer components, fewer connections, and a faster mechanical install.

This week The RIX Groups Piling team made the short journey from Sydney to Cairns! Some 2,400km 'up the road' to install deep foundations for an upgrade to the Skyrail Cableway - a 7.5-kilometre scenic tourist cableway running above the Barron Gorge National Park.

Taking with them their 120T Bauer BG33 piling rig to construct 20m+ deep, 900mm CFA piles in a tricky site environment.

The logistics involved to mobilise to such a faraway location, transporting heavy plant and equipment is no small feat, and considering the distance from home, our team went over and above to ensure nothing was missed and the project was delivered with the highest quality, on time and on budget.

On 13 July 2026, The RIX Group completed Australia’s first large-scale installation of the NX Earth Truss foundation system.

This milestone makes RIX the first contractor to deliver this technology at utility scale in Australia, installing thousands of foundations directly into the ground using our TD3.5 fleet across a major solar project in regional New South Wales.

Reaching this milestone required a significant effort from our field crews and engineering team. We would also like to thank Nextpower for its technical support throughout the project.

The experience, systems and capability developed on this project have positioned RIX to deliver future utility-scale solar projects, including sites with more challenging ground conditions.

We are proud of what the team has built.
