🌳 Tree Root Intrusion in a Terracotta Sewer Line 🚨
What you’re looking at is a dense network of fine feeder roots that have entered the pipe through small gaps or joints in an older terracotta sewer. These roots are naturally attracted to the nutrient-rich water inside the pipe, where they continue to grow until they begin restricting partially, or completely blocking the flow!
🚩 Common signs of tree root intrusion include:
• Slow-draining sinks, showers or toilets,
• Gurgling noises from drains,
• Recurring blockages that clear themselves,
• Drainage odours or visible overflow.
In many cases, the most effective way to remove the problem is with an Electric Eel, These machines mechanically cut through the root mass and restores flow effectively, without causing unnecessary damage to the services. Depending on the condition of the sewer, a CCTV drain inspection can then determine its exact location, and whether further repairs or replacement are required.
Catching root intrusion early can often save thousands in emergency repairs and property damage.
It’s a relief to restore flow ✨
