My first curved aluminium job—50/25 continuous battens with a 30mm gap, level top, raked bottom, all stepped down under a beautiful frangipani tree! I think it has turned out pretty good. But it got me thinking about how I got here..

A bit over 10 years ago, I met a bloke named Tom. I’d taken in a Colorbond gate I’d welded, hoping he could help me fix it. He had a laugh, told me to leave it with him and said to come back in a few days and it’d be sorted.

Since then, I’ve brought plenty of jobs his way for help or repairs. I’m grateful for all of that, but even more so for the friendship we’ve built over the years working together.

He has always said it’s not about what you get in life, but what you give—and he truly lives by that. He’s the kind of bloke who gives far more than he ever expects in return.

So for a lot of the jobs you’ve seen me put together over the years, he deserves at least half the credit.

Although we didn’t take home a win this year at Fencing Industry Australia- Awards, we still feel incredibly proud to have been named finalists in three categories. To be recognised alongside so many talented businesses and outstanding projects is a huge honour in itself.

A huge congratulations to all the winners, each win was very much deserved!

We’ve loved connecting with others in the industry over the past few days and are already looking forward to next year!

Today felt like the perfect day to post something I’d already been thinking about.

Whenever I mention to people that Teagan comes out on site with me, I often hear the same response — “My wife wouldn’t do that.” And honestly, that just makes me even prouder to say that mine does.

Teagan isn’t afraid to get stuck in. She lifts posts and panels, digs holes, unloads bags of concrete and works through whatever the day throws at us. When there’s work to be done, she rolls up her sleeves and gives it everything she’s got. And she does an awesome job of it too.

What makes it even more impressive is that this is only one part of what she does. She’s also the one keeping the admin side of the business running behind the scenes, while still being an incredible mum and an amazing wife.

Watching her juggle it all and still show up ready to work hard is something I genuinely admire. I’m lucky to have her beside me in life and in business.

MEET THE TEAM: TEAGAN

Teagan looks after the accounts, social media and administration at Select Fencing.

She prepares quotes and invoices, manages the behind-the-scenes organisation of the business and creates the social media content shared online.

You’ll also occasionally see her on site lending a hand where needed, swapping the computer for a shovel.

New Branding!

We’ve been working on updating our branding so it better reflects what we actually do day to day. For many years now, around 80–90% of our work has been installing ModularWalls and it’s really become the core of our business.

While the look has changed, who we are hasn’t. Our focus is still to be one of the go-to installers of the product across Sydney and beyond. We take a lot of pride in delivering quality workmanship, clear communication and a smooth experience for our customers from start to finish.
