Introducing the feature stair for YoCo’s Alcove Co-working space at 70 Eagle Street, Brisbane.

With its soft white finish, gentle curves and pastel-coloured Indigenous artwork, the stair creates a calm and inviting focal point within the space.

Behind the simple aesthetic was a complex structural challenge.

When Asentis came on board, the Level 5–6 pe*******on hadn’t yet been created. The Level 6 slab was also post-tensioned, meaning the opening had to be carefully positioned to avoid live cables.

Our team scanned the slab, mapped the cable locations and created full-scale mock-ups to determine the best position for the opening before cutting began.

The pe*******on, structural steel and stair were then resolved as one coordinated scope.

A good example of how a turnkey approach can take care of the complexity behind the scenes, while allowing the design to remain the focus.

Spanning five levels and 10,000m², Torrens Edge Workplace is designed around connection, collaboration and long-term performance.

At its heart, a series of interconnected architectural staircases link Levels 8 to 12, creating a strong visual and physical connection between floors while becoming a defining feature of the interior.

The result is a considered expression of materiality and craftsmanship, transforming the stair into a cohesive architectural feature that enhances movement, connection and character throughout the workplace.

The project achieved a 5 Star Green Star rating and 6 Star NABERS performance, reflecting its considered approach to sustainability, adaptability and environmental performance.

Early engagement and collaboration were key to the successful delivery of the feature stair package at Ashurst Sydney.

Working closely with the client from concept through to completion, Asentis delivered a complete stair package comprising seven feature stairs and associated void balustrades. Throughout an extended design phase, we developed multiple concept options and provided budget pricing, ensuring the client remained actively involved in every key decision.

Featuring custom green electrostatically painted steel plate balustrades, bronze-finished handrails, cork flooring, and seamless glass void balustrades, the finished result integrates beautifully with the project's interior palette.

This project is a great example of how early contractor involvement, collaborative design, and detailed planning can deliver outstanding architectural outcomes.

In the heart of Kesko’s K-Kampus headquarters in Helsinki, a sculptural staircase anchors a vast glazed atrium bringing together nearly 1,800 people and creating a natural point of connection within the workplace.

The building reflects the core values of Scandinavian design; functionality, clarity, and a deep sense of consciousness in how space is made and experienced. Rooted in Modernist principles, the architecture prioritises durability and authenticity, where every detail is considered and nothing is excessive.

A considered palette of timber, exposed concrete, and soft natural tones carries through the interiors, reinforcing a calm, cohesive environment.
