Happy headspace Day! 💚

Growing up comes with plenty of ups and downs, and having the right support nearby can change everything. That is why we are so proud of our ongoing partnership with headspace, helping local young people access free and confidential mental health support.

Established in 2006, the headspace model was built to revolutionise youth mental healthcare by bringing vital support under one roof and making early intervention easier. As one of NSW’s leading providers of mental health and wellbeing services, New Horizons is proud to support young people across three key Sydney locations in headspace Chatswood, headspace Ashfield, and headspace Brookvale

Over recent years, we have celebrated some exciting milestones together, including moving our Chatswood and Ashfield centres into purpose-built new homes. In FY26 alone, headspace Chatswood and Ashfield each delivered over 4,000 services for young people aged 12 to 25, with over 90% reporting satisfaction with their support.

We also want to send a huge thank you to Central and Eastern Sydney PHN and Sydney North Health Network for their fantastic collaboration in bringing these models to life.

We have some exciting news!

Our i.am program has won the Wayahead - Mental Health Association NSW Mental Health Matters Youth Award.

This award, sponsored by the Office for Youth, recognises programs making a real difference in the lives of young people through prevention and early intervention.

i.am provides compassionate su***de aftercare support to children and young people experiencing suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or recovering from a su***de attempt.

Since launching, we've supported more than 1,000 children and young people across NSW, helping them build confidence, strengthen connections and find hope during some of life's most difficult moments.

This award belongs to our incredible team, our partners, and the young people and families who continue to inspire us every day. We’d also like to acknowledge the NSW Health and WentWest - Western Sydney PHN as funding partners in the delivery of i.am.

Meet our new Kempsey outreach van!

Bringing homelessness support directly to the community, our van is equipped with first aid, tents, clothing, and hydration, with the ability to conduct initial assessments on the spot.

"It's about not waiting for a person to be in crisis to walk into an office," says Krystal Donovan, First Nations Ambassador at New Horizons.

Doors are officially open at the Bondi Medicare Mental Health Centre. Here are a few moments from our opening day.

Free, accessible mental health support is here when you need it, right in the heart of Bondi Junction.

💛 Today is R U OK? Day, and this year we're embracing the message: Ask R U OK? Any Day.
Research shows 1 in 4 people hesitate to ask if someone's OK, even when they suspect something's wrong. But 9 in 10 people who are asked say they feel grateful, cared about and supported.
At New Horizons, checking in on the people we support, and on each other, is part of what we do every day. From our headspace programs supporting young people aged 12–25, to i.am, our peer-led, co-produced su***de aftercare program for young people, to our broader mental health, Community Living Supports and community services, we see every day what it means when someone takes the time to ask.
Today, we're recommitting to that, and encouraging everyone to keep the conversation going in the weeks and months ahead.
If someone's been on your mind, today's the day to ask. Not sure how to start? Simply: "Hey, I've noticed you've seemed a bit off lately: are you OK?"

This Men's Mental Health Week, we want to introduce you to Nick. Nick is a peer worker with our i.am program in Tamworth. Growing up as a bloke in a country town, he knows firsthand what it means to come from a background where men don't talk about things.

Now he's helping change that for the next generation — playing basketball, kicking a footy, going for walks — finding what works for each young person and building trust from there.

"It's very much something I wish I had when I was a kid."

i.am is NSW's first child and youth specific su***de aftercare program co-produced by children and young people.

In this video, we sit down with Nick, one of our i.am peer workers based in Tamworth, to talk about what this support looks like in real life and how we support young people when they need it most.
