Congratulations to Robert Allison on being selected as the 2025 recipient of the Volmac Group Scholarship! As an MBA student at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the founder of Greener-Me—a pioneering landscaping company dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities for LGBTQIA+ individuals in the trades industry—Robert's journey from theology graduate and aspiring chaplain to entrepreneurial leader is truly inspiring. Facing barriers due to his identity, he pivoted to the trades, where he now champions diversity and sustainability.

This $2,500 award, sponsored by Volmac Group in partnership with the Pride Business Association (PBA) Education Fund, underscores a commitment to removing financial hurdles for LGBTQIA+ community members pursuing higher education. In its second year, the Fund has already distributed $17,500 in scholarships for 2025, contributing to a total of nearly $100,000 since its inception. Volmac Group's ongoing support highlights the ripple effect of such initiatives: empowering individuals like Robert not only builds personal futures but strengthens community resilience and representation in underrepresented fields.

We’re excited to be working on the Sydney Girls High School project and doing it the Volmac way.

Instead of relying on layers of subcontractors, our Building, Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing divisions are delivering the works directly. This self-delivery approach removes the extra fees that head contractors usually add, giving the client a more cost-effective outcome.

With all trades working together under one roof, we can keep the project moving smoothly and focus on what matters most: a safe, efficient delivery for the school community.

Where do the savings come from?

A typical head contractor’s costs don’t stop at subcontractors. They add their own margin and overheads on top, which means you pay more for the same work.

At Volmac, you pay subcontractor costs only. Our in-house Building, Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing divisions take on the work directly, cutting out unnecessary layers and middle margins. It’s the same qualified trades on-site, but delivered in a way that is leaner, more transparent, and more cost-competitive.

One accountable team, fewer overheads, better value.
