Making better use of the space you already have can completely change how a home feels, especially when the renovation also gives you the chance to fix existing issues properly.

On this project, we’re replacing areas affected by water damage while opening up the living spaces, modernising the flooring and updating the finishes.

So while the home will look and feel completely different once it’s finished, the work behind the walls and under the floors is just as important as what you see at the end.

Getting started on the demo stage of this home renovation!

Water damage was a major influence for this customer to do this project. As you can see, the floorboards have been damaged over time due to poor drainage and runoff from the backyard.

Before we can start putting everything back together, we need to strip it back, finish assessing the damage and make sure the drainage issues are properly addressed so it doesn’t happen again.

It’s an important part of the design process and something that needs to be considered early. If water isn’t properly directed away from the home, it can cause major problems down the track.

This home is a good example, with poor drainage contributing to water damage across the entire ground floor.
