Project Update: The Mercon Team is thrilled to have completed both Phase 1 and 2 of the 5-phase Harrington Park project for client, NSW Department of Education, and head contractor, Grindley Constructions.

To date, the Team has completed both detailed and bulk demolition, site clearing, as well as bulk and detailed earthworks. The next project phases will entail preparing and readying the site for construction. Mercon will then hand over to the head contractor to build a new school hall, library, administration building, and other public domain works.

Project Update: The Mercon Team had the pleasure of having the NSW Building Commissioner, Mr. David Chandler OAM, and his team of experts visit our residential development in Kellyville recently. The morning commenced with “Good morning, Mr. Commissioner” and concluded with “Thank you, David.”

We were pleased to receive feedback from the Commissioner to implement on all our projects moving forward. It was a pleasure to meet like-minded professionals who share our value of quality workmanship. We look forward to welcoming David and his Team to our future projects.

Project Update: Plenty of progress at Mercon’s site where the Team has completed detailed and bulk demolition, site stripping and clearing, bulk earthworks and have now commenced detailed earthworks, backfilling installation of subsoil drainage, and piling. The Mercon Team is on track to hand over to the Head Contractor, Grindley Constructions, for the construction component of the project.

These early works are a part of the construction project for Harrington Park Public School to deliver 19 new permanent learning spaces, new staff, and administration facilities, a new covered outdoor learning area, and an upgraded school hall and library.

Project Update: St Scholastica's College, Glebe - The Mercon Team has had an incredible few weeks of progress at our Glebe site. The Team ticked off the following project highlights: (1) Completion of the underpinning of Block E's foundation to strengthen it. (2) Safe removal of asbestos from roof eves throughout; (3) Classrooms on several floors have been stripped out and ready for a fresh fit-out.

We are looking for a Groundworks Site Manager to join our team immediately.

As a Site Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality projects while ensuring safety standards are upheld and the project adheres to set deadlines. You will take a hands-on approach to the day – to – day management of site-based activities and will be involved in key planning activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Programming and coordination of sub-contractors, suppliers, and materials deliveries.
- Developing and building a strong rapport with site teams, internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaison with the client ensuring the successful delivery of the project to schedule.
- Management of the construction program along with the Project Manager and Construction Manager.
- Liaison with the commercial team to identify variations and claims.
- Managing OHS compliance on-site including site inductions.


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

- Proven track record – 5 years minimum working for a Civil or Construction company.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good management skills with the ability to motivate and drive direct & sub-contract labor.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Plant operator.
- Construction experience would be an added advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Hold appropriate civil or construction qualifications and/or trade background.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Travel is a must.

Project Update: 137-139 Alexandria St Crows Nest

The Mercon Team was recently appointed to complete the early works for Alexander Residences, a new high-end residential development located at 137-139 Alexander St, Crows Nest, NSW 2065. The project includes site establishment, traffic management, bulk, and detailed demolition, bulk and detailed excavation, installation of capping beam, piling, shotcreting, and bracing. The Alexander Residences will feature 9 exquisitely appointed apartments featuring one to three bedrooms. Located in the heart of Sydney’s Lower North Shore, the Alexander Residences will offer one of the area’s most coveted settings: just sitting on the fringe of Crows Nest’s vibrant village precinct and its beautiful, leafy residential streets.

The early works are due to be completed by mid-February 2021.

Project Update: The Mercon Team was recently appointed by Belmadar Constructions to complete the early works stage of the Eastwood Carpark project located at 53-71 Rowe Street, Eastwood. This includes the demolition of an existing car park, bulk and detailed excavation, construction of foundation piles, shoring piles, capping beams, and shotcreting. The project is progressing well, with detailed excavation commencing shortly.

This new five-level car park will accommodate 146 car spaces and will feature electric vehicle chargers, roof solar panels, lifts, and a pop-up retail space. Stay tuned for more updates.
