During the site inspection at this Hoxton Park home, we spoke…with the owner about what the property may need in the future…more electrical load and potentially a three-phase upgrade.

So while we already had access, we ran the EV charger cable with that future plan in mind.

If they decide to upgrade later, we’re not starting the difficult cable route all over again.

Good electrical planning isn’t only about what the home needs today. It’s asking what the owner may want next.

EV charging, air conditioning, solar, batteries and three-phase upgrades all benefit from planning early.

An EV charger can be one of the biggest electrical loads you add to a home…. so what happens when everything else is running too? ⚡

This Hoxton Park property already has plenty happening electrically, including air conditioning, cooking loads, solar/battery equipment and the usual household demand.

For this installation we used a Zappi with load management configured so the charger can respond to the electrical load on the home rather than simply demanding maximum power regardless of what everything else is doing.

Charger selection matters. The fastest charger on paper isn’t automatically the best solution for every house.

Planning an EV charger? We can assess the existing supply and recommend a setup that suits the home.

We came to this Hoxton Park home to assess an EV charger. The charger wasn’t the only thing that needed attention. ⚡

Before installing an EV charger, we look at more than where the charger is going on the wall.

We assessed the existing switchboard, household demand and cable route, and found that part of the existing installation didn’t have the safety-switch protection we wanted to see.

The switchboard was upgraded as part of getting the home properly prepared for its new EV.

It’s exactly why we prefer to inspect an EV installation properly rather than guessing from a few photos.

A lot of the most important electrical work in a renovation disappears once the walls are finished. ⚡

This is the stage where getting the planning right really matters…cable routes, new circuits, outlet locations, future loads and making sure the existing electrical system is suitable for what’s being added.

It might not be the flashy finished part of the renovation, but this is where a lot of the problems later on can be avoided.

If you’re renovating, extending, changing the kitchen or adding more electrical equipment, get your electrician involved early.

It gives you more options, fewer compromises and a much cleaner result once everything is finished.

Moving into an older home? Before the furniture goes in is a great time to get the electrics sorted. ⚡

We were called to this home in Bonnyrigg before the owners moved in. They wanted to freshen the place up, so we replaced the old lights with LED lighting, added a few extras where needed and addressed circuits that didn’t have safety-switch protection.

Nothing over the top, just making the home brighter, more practical and giving the owners confidence before moving in.

If you’ve just bought a home, having the electrical work done while the property is still empty can make the whole process much easier.

Can you install an EV charger if your home only has single-phase power? ⚡

Yes, in many homes you absolutely can.

The right setup depends on the available supply, what the rest of the home is already using and whether load management is required.

A single-phase EV charger can provide around 7kW of charging, which for many homeowners is more than enough to recharge overnight.

This Hoxton Park job is a good example of why we assess the existing electrical installation before simply putting a charger on the wall.

A garage doesn’t have to feel like the forgotten room of the house. ⚡

Good lighting makes a massive difference — whether the garage is used for parking, storage, a workshop, detailing cars or just somewhere you actually want to spend time.

On this job we were working around this hex-style lighting setup and making sure the electrical side of the space was properly planned and positioned.

Lighting isn’t just about putting the brightest fitting you can find on the ceiling. Placement, coverage and how the room is actually used all matter.

Renovating or adding more electrical load to your home? Your switchboard needs to be part of the plan. ⚡

At this home in Bonnyrigg Heights, the owners are carrying out renovations and additions, which means new circuits and additional electrical demand.

Rather than simply adding more circuits to the existing setup, we’re assessing what’s already there and upgrading the protection where required so the installation is ready for the work being added now and better prepared for the future.

It’s much easier to plan these things properly while the renovation is underway than discover later that the electrical setup wasn’t ready for what you wanted to add.

Still living with old halogen lights? 💡

An LED upgrade can improve the light in the room, reduce energy use and make ongoing maintenance easier.

But the right solution still depends on the existing fittings, ceiling access, room layout and switching. We inspect what’s already there before recommending or pricing the work.

As mentioned in the video, we’re also offering a free switchboard safety inspection this month when we’re out helping with your lighting.

Want your lighting assessed? Send us your suburb, photos of the rooms and a photo of the current fittings.
