Commonly known as IXLs, these units can get very dusty over time. This dust builds up and can pose a major fire risk when using the heat lights. The heat lights can reach temperatures up to 200° Celsius. Some units have a thermal overload which means there is always power to the fitting so best to turn it off at the main supply when cleaning it. To clean, remove the Bulbs and use a vacuum to get the worst off and use a wet wipe or lightly damp cloth to remove the stubborn dust.
